Groom in Military Uniform-Colors dilemma!

My fiance is in the Coast Guard Honor Guard and I want him to wear his uniform which is navy blue. I am getting married in October and I wanted to do a eggplant and light blue (Robyn's egg) color theme. I am also looking at doing red and orange but can't decide. Any advice? Outdoor wedding by the way.

Military uniforms are the one thing you do not need to match, they are considered a neutral.  So I think if you want him to wear his uniform and you want those colors it is fine.  Plus, I think that navy blue would look lovely with purple and light blue!

I agree with PP that his uniform would be considered neutral.  However, I can understand not wanting him to stick out for photo reasons.

You can do a little search on the web for color wheel charts.  These are often used in interior design.  I just did a quick one and the site I found showed that the following could be grouped if Navy was your core color:
    - Orange, Gold and Rust
    - Yellow, red, brown and tan
    - Blue, green and purple

Those could change if you decide that you wanted purple to be your core color and use Navy as an accent.  Just spend sometime holding colors up to your FIs uniform and I am sure you will find plenty of complementary colors that will coordinate great!
