Tell me a story...

In particular, tell me the story of how you met your FI, DH, or SO. I'd love to hear it!

I met my FI in high school. It's kind of a cute story ( I think so, anyway. lol). We had a mutual friend, but I didn't know FI existed. One day our mutual friend pointed FI out to me and said "my friend thinks your cute." Then I gave my number to the mutual friend to give to FI. So I saw FI one day hanging out with someone else and I was with a group of my friends. I told my friends, "that's the guy who thinks I'm cute. Do you think I should talk to him." So, I went up to him, introduced myself, and shook his hand. He looked at me for a second like he was very confused about what was happening and then introduced himself. He then said he was going to call me, but he lost my number (I found out later, he did not actually lose my number, but he had been too scared to call me. lol) So I gave him my number again, we started hanging out and after 5 years of being friends we finally started dating.

Your turn!

Fun, I love stories!  Yours is cute!  I met my hubby at Dos Gringos Scottsdale, haha, so romantic.  I was out to dinner at Z Tejas with 2 girlfriends and one of them got a call from a guy she knew saying he was down at Dos with some of his friends.  So after dinner we went to meet him, my husband was one of his friends.  We were both up at the bar at the same time, he bought me a drink, we started talking, he got my number and called the next day, we went on our first date a few days later and have been together ever since.

It is funny, Dos Gringos seems like the least romantic place, but I have two other married friends who met their husbands at that same location, and another friend (one of the two who was with me that night) met her fiance there, they are getting married in July (I was with her the night she met her FI).  We either hang out there to often or there is love in the air at Dos Gringos :-)

I like your story. It's sweet and simple!

That's funny about Dos Gringos! I mean, what are the odds of that happening? I have to agree, though, it is a pretty cool place to hang out.

I met my FI at work! For 3 months he would stop by my desk a million times a day to crack a joke. I thought he was super friendly and he thought I had a boyfriend (I didn't). One day he asked how my day was, and I told him what an aweful day it had been for me. He wanted to cheer me up and suggested we go to Happy Hour after work to relax and have fun. He came to pick me up and neither of us knew if the other considered it a date (if only he knew how many times I changed outfits). We had a blast and the next day we went on our first "Official Date." We have been together ever since.

The electronic information age actually played a great role in bringing my fiance and I together since we actually met on Craigslist. lol.  I will be the first to say that there are a lot of weird people on there but also a lot of great ones.  I had done a post of about 20 reasons "Why you should respond to me" and he ended up being one of the first responses.  I liked him immediately but time and circumstances that came up in life didn't allow for dating right away.  We ended up email/texting/talking for 5 months before we actually went out on our first date.  (He really liked me to hang on for so long...hehehe).  We have been together now for 2 1/2 years and will be married in Oct 2011.  Thank goodness for the internet!

My FI and I met through friends.  My good friend was dating his best friend.  He went to school in Washington and came down to visit during spring break.  So we all got a group together and went out.  I didn't think much of it at the time because he was just visiting.  Later I found out that he was moving back and because his best friend was dating my good friend, we began to hang out a lot.  He didn't ask me out for 3 months because he didn't think I would be interested in him.  One of my friends actually brought it up to him.  She said that he should ask me out on a date, so he did.  Now, the rest is history!

We met in high school. (Ok, before you start laughing.... )We were just friends in high school. In fact, he was dating my best friend and I was dating his best friend. The four of us, (along with a select group of others),ran around together for the better part of high school. We had the best times together and loved each other like siblings. After graduation we all drifted apart as we pursued different dreams. Both Mark and I went on to marry others (no he didn't marry my best friend). Sadly, neither of those unions were successful beyond the creation of some pretty spectacular kids.

Two years ago we found each other on MySpace (ok,you can start laughing now), and renewed our friendship. Before long friendship turned into dating and dating into love. Smile

This seems like as good a place as any to make my first post :)

My FI and I met while studying theatre up at NAU. I saw him in passing between classes quite a bit, but finally got to talk to him when he was on the scenic crew for Cinderella, a play I was Assistant Stage Managing. We spent the run of the show talking about plays and interests backstage, and became fast friends.

Although we had feelings for each other, we weren't single at the same time for 3 years. We went barhopping with some mutual friends and I got the courage to ask him to go see a movie with me. We had a great time, and we've been together ever since!

We met when I was still in high school and he had just graduated (he actually knew my older brother and I knew his younger brother before we met).  One night a friend of mine had a party where FI, his brother and his friend also came.  He was SO cute, but I actually told him that his friend was cuter than he was!  (I'm such a terrible person!  And I'm not sure whether or not to put that tid-bit on our website.)  Well, we got to know each other and spent the whole night chatting and laughing, and I pretty much followed him around like a little kid...I was only 15!  We spent the next couple of weekends together with friends and quickly began officially dating.  We have been together since then, about 8.5 years!  I seriously can't wait to get married!

marissa - that's so cute that he would come by just to crack jokes. Your story reminds me of a romantic comedy. lol.

nicki - when you said "electronic information age" I thought you were going to say like match.com or something. I've never heard of meeting someone on craigslist before. That's such a neat story! Very unique! I bet it's a fun one to tell. lol.

actress - your story reminds me of this time when I was in high school and my best friend was dating this guy and she decided I should date his best friend. It didn't go well at all. Lasted a week. lol. I'm so glad things worked out so much better for you! You must have nicer friends than I do. lol.

nycegrrl - I'm so glad you found your FI again after so long apart. This makes me feel like if you guys can go your seperate ways, go through so much on your own, and still wind up together in the end, then it has to be meant to be.

shellbell - Hi! and welcome! Thanks for sharing your story! Also, I commend you on getting up the courage to ask him out! That's awesome!

acnahm - I bet you are SO ready to married! That's a long time! I think it's funny that you told him his friend was cuter. I might put it on the website, but that's just my sense of humor. lol.

Cool, I went to NAU too.  I graduated in 2005, how about you?  I was in the college of business, so even if it was near the same time, we probably didn't cross paths too much.

I met my FH on match.com.  I had been living in Phoenix for like 6 months after graduating from NAU, and wanted to try out dating people like a grown up (i.e. not like a college kid), so I decided to jump on the band wagon and try online dating. Some of my co-workers were doing it and assured me that it wasn't a bunch of creeps, so I gave it a shot.  I only ever met three guys in person, and FH was one of them.  When we get married in October we will have been together for 5 years.

I was definitely up in Flag at the time. I started out in Fall 2003, but took a little time off and then finished up in May 2009.  I'm kind of missing the cooler weather right about now <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />

I love this! It's so fun to hear other people's stories!

My fiance and I met at work. We are both English teachers and were working at the same middle school. I was a newbie and he helped me with some technological issues and stuff. We saw each other at a few happy hours and thought each other were cute but didn't really get together until five months after we met. He asked me for my number at a happy hour and we started talking and texting. Then, at another teacher's Christmas party we were partners for Apples to Apples and I knew then that I really liked him. I connived some other ways for us to get together in groups (he was really shy) and then got him to ask me out on a date. There haven't been many days when we didn't see each other since that night. We hid our relationship from the kiddos until we were engaged and now they are all excited and begging to come. We will never give in and have students at our wedding, but look how cute it is that they want to come so much! Those are post-its on the hood of my car.
