Newbie Knottie!

Hello All!  My name is Briana and I have been engaged to my Fiance Taylor since New Years of this year!  He proposed to me in front of all of our friends during the New Years party we were hosting at our house.  I was pleasently surprised when he popped the question because so far we have been together for 81/2! years! We are High School sweethearts and I am soo looking forward to our big day :D We are getting married May 5, 2012 at Blackstone Country Club in Peoria.  Our date falls on Cinco de Mayo which we are very excited about!  I love the Mexican culture and plan on totally incorporating it into our wedding.  Our venue is absolutly AMAZING! It has such a Spanish vibe to it and everytime we go to visit, it is really hard to leave.  Luckily for us, the bulk of the wedding planning is taken care of because Blackstone does it all!  I have also already found my dream dress.  It is from Almond Tree, who I totally reccomennd because of their excellent customer service, pricing, and selection.
So now I am basically trying to narrow down my color choices which is pretty difficult for me because I want to stick with a Cinco de Mayo feel but still keep it classy..Coral is my favorite so I am definetly using that, possibly with a green, yellow and some hints of pink.

This entire process is so much fun! A tad stressful at times only because my decisions need to be the right ones;) However, I love parties and have hosted quite a bit of them so this is a challenge that I am proud to take on! Looking forward to getting ideas and inspirations from fellow brides..its nice that we are all in the same boat.  Cheers! :)

Congratulations on the engagement!! We're getting married March 2 of next year and our venue, the Castle at Ashley Manor, also does pretty much ALL the planning. I'm DIYing a lot of extra decorations and such, but other than that, there isn't a WHOLE lot to do. I kept feeling like I should be doing something, which is where all the extra projects came in (card box, aisle pomanders, candy buffet decorations, well wishes table, etc.). So, if you're feeling somewhat bored and want to contribute more, I recommend checking out some of the other boards on here (DIY, ceremony ideas, reception ideas, even the wedding classifieds). The girls on here have a lot of great ideas! There are several things I never even though of, but have since decided to add it to my wedding.

Also, if you want to do coral but stick to a Mexican theme of sorts, try adding turquoise. I love those two colors together and although they're not the Cinco de Mayo colors, they definitely would fit in with your theme and still be classy.

PS Love the date! What a fun theme.
