How much time for open dancing?

Hi Ladies!

So our venue is The Desert Botanical Gardens with an alotted time from 5-11pm. How much time is adequate for open dancing?? We do have people who love to dance that are attending, but I don't want to spend too much time and lose time where we could potentially make it useful elsewhere.

We are having cocktail hour after the ceremony followed by a buffet dinner for 130-150 people as well as a photobooth...just some info on the other things that will occupy time.

All advice & suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

My dancing time started right after dinner and lasted until the reception was over (about 3.5 hours)  This was the perfect amount of time for my guests.  We had a lot of our college friends there, so the dance floor was full most of the time.

We scheduled our reception events (cake cutting, bouquet toss, garter toss etc.) throughout the dancing.  This provided a good opportunity for people to grab a quick drink or cool off for a few minutes.

After all the reception events, there was probably about an hour of straight dancing.  This was probably the most fun part of the evening for us.

    Hope that helps!

I think a couple hours is fine. I was a MOH last year and the bride and I were soooo exhausted we couldn't wait for the dancing to be over. I think it just depends on your personality and the demographics of guests at your wedding. :)
