Ohio Weather

So I made the mistake of asking my fiance if he liked the date of 7/9/11 for the wedding, and then I remembered how hot and disgusting in can be in July. So now I am thinking I want the wedding in September but he won't budge on the July date. :(

p.s. He is a very out doorsy person while I tend to stay inside because I get too hot, I mean I start burning up when it hits 80. I also know that I want to wear my hair down, which is very long and almost black, and possibly have a floor length wedding dress.

Have any one you had an outdoor wedding ceremony and possibly in reception in July, was it hotter out than you expected? How did you deal with the heat?

We thought about having the reception at St. Clarence Pavilion in July- and decided we didn't want to chance it! We both opted to avoid that.

Our wedding is in July of this year. It's not outside but the church isn't air conditioned so there's that. I'm wearing my hair down and a regular long wedding dress. It's really hard to tell what the weather's going to be like in Ohio -- like last year June and July were cool and it rained a lot. I think you'll be ok with an outdoor ceremony in July but maybe try to keep it short just to keep everyone comfortable.

we are also getting married of july this year, and as kristen said, last july it was surprisingly cool!!! so we are hoping for it to be cool again since we're having an outdoor ceremony. we are keeping it pretty short though, just in case. ohio is so unpredictable! all you can do is hope haha...luckily, in july it doesnt rain very much, so we are crossing our fingers for no rain too!

If people around here attempted to plan their weddings around the weather, nobody in northeast Ohio would ever get married. LOL. All you can do is hope for the best. In your case, choose an air conditioned reception location, use air conditioned transportation and keep the outdoor ceremony short (and under tree cover or tent) if you want to be ultra cautious. Our wedding was at the end of April. If it had been the week before our actual date, we'd have been married in a snowstorm. Yes, on April 23rd. LOL. Welcome to Cleveland.

July is usually hot and humid in Ohio. Last July was very cool, but that is the first time I remember a July with that kind of weather.

I am getting married in September which is generally cooler, but still beautiful. I personally would try to not do an outdoor ceremony in July because you will be in a heavy dress, with hair down and in make-up!

    Good luck with the decision.

    For outdoor summer weddings -
    keep it short
if possible have it in the shade
keep the BP in AC bus, room, etc for as long as possible
some people definitely should wear sunscreen! At a wedding I attended, the BP fried out in the sun when they are standing outside for ceremony and then a few hours of pictures.  Bright Red BM in pain is not fun!
    provide water for your guests
FYI - if you are hot/sweaty, the redness, damp hair, etc.it will show in the photos so if you are not a fan of heat (I was not either) try hard to reconsider your date or move the cermony inside/tented

the rule for me for ohio in the summer is: the closer to the lake, the lower the temp... and that's *usually* true. i used to live in lakewood and work in north olmsted and even that short trip home i would watch them temp fall on my car's thermostat as i inched closer to the lake :)

in what part of NE Ohio are you getting married?

Here's an idea.  You may want to check the farmer's almanac or find a site online that farmers use to predict weather.  Granted it's not 100% accurate (God will do what he wants....LOL) but if farmer's use it why cant we?  Not only can it be hot and humid in July but dont forget those "late afternoon thunderstorms" that we are known for.  Just thinking ahead of time.  What about doing an early afternoon wedding (remember the sun is the hottest between 2 and 4).  Just some thoughts for you!
