Why won't vendors get back to me?

I am really having the hardest time with florists getting back to me on things.  Is it unreasonable to expect an email within a week or so after emailing about getting together to discuss a quote?  Or two and a half weeks (after 2 emails) asking a question on a quote?

Also having trouble hearing from a makeup/hair person I was excited to hear from.

Sigh - just would like to get some of these things wrapped up and seems to be taking forever.

Oh - if anyone has any florist recommendations - I'm all for it.  (butterfly petals and ever after are booked, talked with blume - was expensive though, petals and lucy, and pink petal shop).  Thinking of checking out a safeway or something.

    Ugh, that sucks!

I've had an issue with florists getting back to me here and there....   haven't contacted any hair/makeup people yet, so I don't really have any good suggestions for you, but I can understand the frustration for sure!

The one I have been talking to that's been good about contact so far for florists is Ever After Florals - Jen there.  We haven't had our first meeting yet, that's this weekend, but she's been very responsive to phone calls and emails.
Her pricing seems pretty good for us, but we're only doing centerpieces, so I don't know about all the other stuff, but it's listed on her site.

This really sucks!  I'm sorry you're having such a hard time.  People just don't know how to have good customer service these days.  I don't have any recs, but I understand your frustration!  BTW, one week is NOT unreasonable to expect a reply, especially to email!  They are vendors, they should do a much better job!

You know it might be that they don't check their emails as often as customers, or those asking for quotes would like.

Call them up, ask them if they were able to review the modifications to your quote, and see if they are willing to put a price to this.

I didn't have a problem with the florists that I asked quotes from, but that's because I went to their studios directly.

I loved the work at Wendell Florists - http://www.wendellflorist.com/ They were easy to work with, and started putting together centerpieces on the fly.  It was awesome! They are located in Tempe.

And then I got sticker shock, and went with bulk flowers through costco.com instead, and had my relatives DIY.

An email response within a week is FAR from unreasonable...  especially if someone wants you to spend your money with them.   I would never do business with someone who couldn't even be bothered to respond at all with in a week.  Emails are not hard to write... if only to acknowledge that you got the information/request/whatever, and were working on it, or are busy and will get to it when you can.

No response at all to a customer or potential customer, is no okay in my book.

We had the same issue with several vendors.

I hate to say it, but I often picked the vendor based on how responsive they were and not always on price!  I figured, I wanted someone I was confident in to show up on the wedding day!

I met with 4 florists.  The one I decided to go with was 1200 for the total package. (as were 2 others).  However,  I met with another one that was around $700 but she was slow in getting back to me, her contract was a disaster and she could not get my FIs name right.  It kept changing....and Mike is not that difficult to get right!

I love AZ and I have lived here for 10 plus years, but sometimes I feel like it is the state.... we are a little more laid back here and it is not always good for business!

I used Butterly Petals, so that does you no good.  But, I have a friend you used Trader Joes for their flowers and they were some of the most beautiful arrangements I have seen!  And when I was looking for venuens one that I visited was having a wedding set up and the florist was Trader Joes on that one too.  The one in North Scottsdale has a full floral depatment, just like a florist, they arrange, deliver and even set up for you if you want.  I am sure other Trader Joes offer it too, but the one my friend used was in N. Scottsdale, try calling them!

Oh, I know just what you mean, and I HATE that!  I work a lot, and I don't like making personal calls from my desk, but I check my email about 100 times a day.  I absolutely prefer to communicate via email, and I get mad when people either don't email me back or email me and tell me to call them.  If I wanted to call, I would have done that in the first place!  Ugh!

Sorry, little rant there.  As for your flowers, I'm ordering mine from Trader Joe's or maybe Safeway.  They're WAY cheaper that way, and I think the flowers are just as nice.  My day of coordinator is going to put all the bouquets and stuff together for me, too, so I just have to pick them up and give them to her.  :-)
