SO SAD!!!!

I missed a call from my brother last night and thinking that he was drunk dialing or something (it was super late his time) I decided I would just text him today to find out if it was actually something he wanted to talk to me about.

Well I did and found out that he can't come to the wedding :( I am devastated. See, he is in the military (has been for about 8 years I think) and he just found out that his unit is not allowed to take leave between may and august because that is the timeframe in which they were given for deployment :(

I am heartbroken over this. He was so excited to come, which kind of surprised me because that's not his personality, and I haven't seen him in a few years so I was happy to see him. I really wanted him there and now there is nothing that either of us can do. I am so heartbroken :(

Oh no, I am so sorry!!! That sucks!  I understand what you are going through, my fiance's brother is overseas and is not going to be able to make it to our wedding, and he is very close to my fiance, so that was really hard.  Are you hiring a videographer?  I know it is not the same as him being there, but maybe you can make him his own special video and send it to him after the wedding?  That is what we are doing, so at least he can see all of his loved ones while overseas.

This might sound funny, but we considered having a webcam set up when we were looking at getting married in Hawaii.  That way, all of the family that couldn't/wouldn't travel could still be there in spirit!

I'm so sorry to hear that, I can imagine how devastated you are. My FH's uncle & aunt were denied tourist visas to attend our wedding & they were supposed to play a HUGE role in our wedding (cultural tradition). I second the idea of setting up a web cam. I just went to a wedding in January & the bride's parents couldn't attend because live overseas & were denied tourist visas. She set-up a web cam & they were able to witness the entire day, which was so cool. They watched the entire ceremony & reception & even the guests would wave to them, blow them kisses, etc. It was really heartfelt & a wonderful way to incorporate her parents even though they couldn't be physically present. Still, I'm very sorry he won't be able to come. I hope this might be the next best thing though. :o)
