Arizona-Phoenix

Help with venues!

Alright, you girls were so helpful with finding a dress shop in the Phoenix area, now I'm coming to you for help with potential wedding venues.

My qualifications: Must be in the East Valley (preferably Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Tempe or east Phoenix), hold at least 150 people and have an outdoor ceremony location. I've yet to determine what my budget is, but I want to keep things reasonable. I fell in love with Stone Bridge Manor in Mesa, but with costs around $20K for 150 people for dinner/alcohol/site fees, I think its out of my price range.

Here are some places I've inquired/put on my list to check out:
- Point Hilton Squaw Peak resort (Phoenix)
- Inn at Eagle Mountain (Fountain Hills)
- Sunridge Canyon Golf Club (Fountain Hills)
- Troon North (Scottsdale)

Any recommendations for or against these places, as well as other ideas, would be very helpful!

Lol, I just responded to your message :)  I have one thing to add!  My photog (and my parents) suggested that I look at the Inn at Eagle Mountain.  We didn't end up going there, but I did look at pics on my photogs website from there.  It is beautiful!  However, I think they said it's on the smaller side, but I could definitely be wrong.  I also contacted them and got their price lists, and they are very affordable from what I can tell.  They responded to me very quickly and were very nice, but we just didn't end up getting out there.  Hope that helps :)

I'm a little rusty on venues, but check out alschmid's planning bio.  She has some great reviews of EV venues.

Are you looking for all inclusive or to plan the vendors yourself?

I apologize.  I just looked back at my info and I did not look at the Inn at Eagle Mountain.  I looked at Eagle Mountain Golf Club.  I got the names confused.  However, if you are interested in the Eagle Mountain area (which is in Fountain Hills right?), Eagle Mountain Golf Club is very beautiful.  Forgive me for my mistake.

McCormick Ranch Golf Club (Scottsdale) would be my recommendation to check out, but I am a bit biased ;)

Does anyone have any experience with 12 West Main in Mesa? I saw a post on weddingbee about it and checked out the website ... from what I can tell, they are full-service, but you can bring in as many of your own vendors as you like.

I didn't particularly want to go down to Mesa, but the space looks very cool and loft-like.

:) Thanks Nilla, venue shopping was one of the toughest decisions to make I think!  Glad my reviews might be helpful to someone.

I would second looking at eagle mountain gold club.  They are very reasonable and were in my top choices.  I don't remember how many they can hold, but they did have quite a few options for set up.  Also, they were very easy to work with and seemed flexible.  http://www2.cybergolf.com/sites/courses/layout11.asp?id=583&page=30967

You may also want to look at Orange Tree Golf Club.  They are off of Shea between Tatum and Scottsdale RD.  They can accommodate a large number at a reasonable price.  They have a number of different ceremony sites and reception areas.  There is their blog: http://orangetreeweddings.wordpress.com/

    Good luck!

I just got married at Troon North this past weekend, and while I would recommend it to ANYONE, it is on the pricey side.  After tax, gratuity and the ceremony site it would cost a lot more than $20k.  I can give you more info on the costs if you want, let me know.   Also, I only had 110 people and it was very comfortable.  WHile they say they can hold 150, I personally think that would be WAY to crowded.

I think I heard Orange Tree Golf Club was going out of business, but I heard that from another golf club venue we were considering so who knows how true that is.

Orange Tree Resort told me that they weren't booking 2011 weddings, which I thought was a little odd at the time.  I don't know if the resort is related to the golf club; if they are, this would make sense.

I limited my search to smaller venues.  If I had allowed myself to fall in love with a larger one, it would have been Troon North for sure.  The views there are spectacular!

My finace and I live in raleigh, nc but are considering getting married in his home state of arizona, preferably the phoenix/scottsdale area. We want a small wedding of about 60 people and i need help finding a venue. I've emailed a bunch of the popular resorts that i find online but i think i want more of a casual atmosphere. does anyone know of a nice restaurant or house or buliding that specializes in smaller weddings? any help or advise would be great!!

    thanks!

For the outdoor venue with 150 guests you may want to look at schnepfs Farms. You can see some images I did there at: foskettphotography.com/schnepffarms  For the venue with 60 guests I would look at Royal Palms, they have a really nice space for small weddings. I hope that helps :)
