What to wear for engagement photos?

My fiancé and I are having our engagement photos taken on Monday and I can't decide what to wear.  I know some couples dress to match, i.e. black sweaters and jeans.  I can't decide if that's cute or corny, and if it's corny I can't really think of what else to wear.  If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them.  Thanks!

I wore a black dress and FI wore black slacks, a button up shirt and a tie.  But, that is probably dressier than most I have seen, it just went with our picture location (picutres in bio).  I think you should coordinate, so that way you do not clash, but you do not match and come off as corny.

I would opt for something classic & timeless so your photos don't look dated a few years from now. Also, I would coordinate, but probably steer clear from being matchy matchy. You might look back at this thinking it looks cheesy. For example, my fiance & I took our photos on the beach so because it was already a casual atmosphere, we wanted to dress it up a tad while somewhat coordinating (not matchy matchy though). I wore a chocolate brown maxi dress & he wore tan slacks & a classic button down white shirt tucked out with the sleeves rolled up. So maybe jeans or slacks with a button down shirt in a solid for your fiance & possibly a solid dress or jeans & a basic top for you. The colors of your outfits don't have to be identical, but maybe they can coordinate somewhat (e.g. neutrals). My profile pic is one of our engagement pics in case you're interested in checking it out. Also, check out Marriott Photography's blog (you can Google it) because they post engagement sessions, which gives you a good idea of what you like/looks good in photos. GL!

Thank you, ladies!  I think I might go with something a little dressier than I usually wear.  I just got a new dress that may actually be perfect.  :-)  I was kinda tempted to do the black sweaters and jeans thing, because then I wouldn't have to plan.  Thanks for talking me out of it!

We had our photos done last week...We both walked out after we got dresses...looked at eachother and we both chose gray to wear! (i know its a boring color)....But anyways...I would recommend not matchig with your man and also what you wear depends on where you are taking your pictures.  We wore jeans to make it look more like we actually look every day.  Also...your photographer can give you clues on what colors to wear.  Goodluck! and most importantly have fun!

Also, you may want to consider your environment.  If you are taking them at a park, you may want to keep your colors earthy or neutral; but if you are taking them by a farris wheel, then vibrant is much more appropriate.  It's generally a good idea to bring an extra change of clothes just incase you don't like the look.
