Photography Prices

Hey my fellow brides and brides-to-be,

I am starting to look for a photographer for our big day (March 19, 2011). A girl from my high school does photography with her husband and personally I think their work is lovely! (www.andrewjadephoto.com in case you all would like to check it out!)

Anyways, I was wondering what the average price range is for the Phoenix area just to make sure this is within that range. (I will likely end up using this photographer but want to be able to answer the inevitable question from my father!)

The customizable price range she gave me was between $1500 and $2000, with an $1850 price including 2 photographers, all day coverage, 400+ enhanced and edited images, full copyrights to the images, and a high resolution disc with all the images.

I would love to know if this sounds typical to you ladies out there who are futher along than I am in the planning process!

I think that sounds pretty reasonable. Our photographer is $1200 for 6 hours, 1 photographer, and then extras (images online and on disc, enhanced images, etc.)

I have seen them anywhere from $800-$10,000. But I would say 1200-2000 is a very common price range.

On a side note, March 19, 2011 is my date, too! What is your venue?

Awesome thank you! We are getting married at the ASU Karsten Golf Club in Tempe. I'm not sure they do a lot of weddings but we were able to get a deal since we are both ASU students! How about you?

Price is similar to what we are paying for the same stuff :).  There really does seem to be a large range in prices though.

I did tons of research on photography about 9 months ago when I started looking.

This is one of the vendor categories that I thought ranged from one extreme to the other.  I met with several (about 10) so I could see their work.  Once meeting with them it was easy to see why there was a wide range in price.  Since photography is an artistic form, price varied with experience of the photographer and quality of the end result.   Even album quality widely varies.  The price above seems right in the middle of the range price range that I was looking.

I looked at the site and the work looks great!  However, I always recommend meeting with at least 2 other vendors just to make sure.  Just remember, you will have the photos forever!

That seems a little bit high from a lot of the ones I've looked at, but not overly so by any means.

My photography packages is going to be $1275 for 2 photographers all day coverage with unlimited pictures, rights and all that.    I got a great deal though... since I'm doing engagement pics, and video through the same person.

I think that sounds like a good price. Especially if you are getting full copyrights.

Thanks for the advice girls! My father was a bit sticker shocked by the price so I am going to do a bit more research and make sure I am getting the best deal. I love to help a high school friend but I also don't want my family to be broke after the big day! :)

That's awesome that you were able to get a good deal on your venue! We are getting married at the Orpheum Penthouse in Downtown Phoenix.

My package was similar to LedZeppelin's and cost $1200 as well. Our photographer included engagement pictures, so it was a really good deal. March 19th is my date too!  Welcome to the cool kids club. It seems to be a popular date, probably because it will be the perfect time of year for a wedding! :)

I had a hard time choosing a photographer.  There are so many out there and they vary so much in quality and cost.  I finally went with a photographer that is $3,000...but I really loved her work.  We fell in love with one photographer who was $8,000..but there was no way we could afford it and she refused to budge on price.  I think you price sounds very reasonable..esp if you really love her pictures!

Hi. My wedding is march 5th :-)   My photographer is a husband wife team and I loooove their work. They are charging me 1000.00. They will be with me all day on my wedding and she will come to my hair appt. etc.  She will photo me and bridesmaids getting ready and he the groom and groomsmen.  Also included is an engagement session and one coffee table book.  I will not be getting prints. She will give me touched up cd's of all pics and the rights to them. I love this as I can go print what I want for fairly cheap.

I used Nick Oza for our wedding photographer.  He did full resolution jpg + RAW (32mb per picture) pictures on dvds - each set contained 2 dvds, of which he made 4 sets (8 total) - one for both parents, and the last set for the safety deposit box in the bank.  We had him from 8am (Saturday) til 1am (Sunday), he did first looks of the bride (me) and family before the wedding, the wedding, lunch, wedding portraits on South Mountain Summit, and then reception pictures.   We have a website for our guests available the day after so that they could recollect their memories from the day before.  All pictures were delivered within 2 weeks.  I have full rights to our pictures as well.

His style is documentary, and very candid.  The pictures inspire, rather than posed.

His cost was $2000.  www.nickoza.com if you want to see more pictures :)  Also, he works as a photographer for the Arizona Republic, so it's not just a side job.  He has the latest equipment, and is up-to-date in technology.

Hi, congratulations on your wedding and planning!

I am a photographer based mainly in Prescott but I travel all over Arizona. My motto is "beautiful, affordable photographs," and I work really hard to make sure I provide memorable prints, all images on a CD, and a beautiful hardcover book with photos of the day inside. I do all of this for under $1,000.

I am able to save by working a second job and paying myself less for my photography, and by cutting costs in areas like using a free website and not purchasing the copyrights to my photos (this also means you can print and re-print to your heart's desire without having to purchase a copyright from me or anything like that).

My website is www.SaraBellPhotography.weebly.com and I would love for you to consider me! If you have not found someone yet and are at all interested, give me a call or shoot me an e-mail with the date, location, and times of your wedding and I'd be more than happy to give you a price!

Good luck with all of your planning!

Yay another 3/19/2011 Bride! Me too!!

Congrats. Karsten will be lovely :)
I would suggest my photographer, but seeing as how we are bothing getting married on the same day, that wouldn't work! haha.

I'd say that's a good price range. We are paying $2600 with tax for a 1 1/2 hour Engagement Session, 2 photographers, 7 hours, and unlimited photos and all rights.

If it matters to you, I would also ask your photographer candidates if they have shot a wedding at Karsten before, that way they are experienced in finding the best areas for shots. That was a huge consideration for us and I was willing to pay slightly more for experience at my venue.

    Good luck!

Charleneandbrett where are you getting married?!

I actually did go ahead with Andrew Jade Photography! I ended up only paying $1600 for everything which is awesome and my fiance and I love them and are excited for them to capture our big day!
