I actually am.  We just booked our reception there for October.  The "prefered" provider list does some of the work for you in terms of narrowing things down... but I am realizing there are still A LOT of decisions to be made.  I have yet to pull the trigger on any decisions.

    Hi and Congratulations!
I'm glad to hear it's not just me then!! I don't know where to start and feel like I could be missing crucial things out, but am also keen to keep costs down!  We are having our Reception and Ceremony there and I'm not too sure how all the logistics will work out, it would be great if they had some kind of check list!! Perhaps speaking to some of the vendors will help, I haven't even gone there yet.....!  What kinds of things are you looking into?  Have you come across any vendors that seem better than others?  And also, what kinds of things do you think you can do on your own?  Sorry for all the questions, thanks!

Hi!  Congrats to you too!  I totally hear you on being overwhelmed and wished there were a checklist!

We are just doing our reception there.  Not sure if that makes it more or less easy!

I have started to explore some of the caterers and have received a few proposals based on what I have told them we are looking for.  I think what's good is that at least for the caterers there seems to be a big range in terms of price/kind of food speciality etc.  What was a pleasant surprise was that a lot of the caterers include things like tables/chairs/linens/plates etc. I was worried that I was going to have to look at a separate vendor for each of those things.

We are thinking about doing some of the decor ourselves.  Since it's such a pretty room with an amazing view, we don't think we are going to anything but centerpieces.  We want to keep it pretty simple... but literally have no idea what the costs will look like.  I think we are going to run our ideas by a few florists and see what they quote us, and then make up our minds!

What are you thinking in terms of a reception?  Sit down dinner? Dancing?  Soo many decisions!

Hi PP2 - were you really able to book Promontory Point for 2012?  We were told we had to wait until the beginning of January to reserve for 2012.

Looking forward to hearing how everyone moves forward in their planning!

    Cyn.

We just booked our June 2012 date today and are excited to start the planning! We are keeping it pretty simple, with a late morning ceremony followed by a brunch inside. If anyone has insight on offering shuttles for guests coming from downtown hotels I'm all ears! We're wanting to make it as easy as possible for out of town guests not familiar with the city.

  • Hi there,

I'm planning a wedding at Promontory Point.  There are several things that need to be setup prior the the wedding day (cleaning and decorating the bathrooms mostly).  I'd be willing to help on the day of your wedding for a return on the favor?
