Opinions Please: Invitation Ordering

Hi ladies,

So, I plan to order my invites by th end of the week (want to take advantage of the 25% off from Cards & Pockets coupon), so my question is...if I have 250 people (including the +1), how many invites should I order? I get the whole splitting in half, but how many extra did you order for last-minute guests or even screw-ups (if they were DIY).

Closing in on six months to the BIG day...this is really getting exciting!!!

TIA for the help!

We're right there with ya! 6 month mark on Saturday!!  Woo Hoo!  Anyway, our guest list is 165 with +1's.  We need about 85 invites, and we have to order in 25 lots.  So we're ordering 100, with 25 extra envelopes.  i don't anticipate messing up the actual invite, just the envelopes because I'm printing them at home.  i hope that helps.  Do you know how many actual invites you need?  I think you really need a good number of extra envelopes, not invites, but I could be wrong....  we've never done this before!!  :o)  Good luck!

I too have to order in the lots of 25; you're right about the extra envelopes vs. the extra invites. Good point! Thanks for that.

Are you doing an RSVP card and envelope or just an RSVP postcard?

We invited 268 and had 160 invitations.  We could have definitely used an extra 10 or so - more people than we thought didn't get them, moved without telling us, etc.  In short, my advice is to over-estimate!

I definitely needed more envelopes than invites, though I do recommend getting some extra invites if you're DIYing it. First FI was in charge of cutting... that didn't work out so well. Then FI was in charge of gluing... uh oh. Eventually he became a gluing master, but it took several "practice" runs.

We are doing RSVP card and envelope.  The invites we found that we really liked had card with envelope.  The postcard would work the same.  I'm getting the same number of rsvp cards and envelopes as the invites.

I just counted the number of actual couples/invites we needed.  I think we had 315 invited and 130 invites needed.  I planned for quite a few extra though because I DIYed.  Also, I HIGHLY recommend the postcards!.  I know it's not a ton of money, but it seemed like such a waste to keep throwing envelopes out everyday when the RSVP's came back...

We are inviting about 230, but through my excel spreadsheet, I figured out that I needed 126 invites. I just ordered enough stuff to handle 150 invites since most of the paper came in packages of 25, 50, or 100.
