pictures Francesca Famiglia / Onion Pub

Hi,

I'm interested in 2 locations in Barrington:  Francesca's Famiglia and Onion Pub & Brewery.  I've searched online, but I just didn't find enough pics of weddings at those locations (I'm planning from out of town, so I can't visit for a few weeks)

If you know anyone who has had their wedding there and has pics I can view, let me know :)

The Onion Pub was on our "short list" and we ultimately did not chose it.  When I visited the the room, it was gorgeous.  The high ceiling made the room feel huge and the windows let a lot of light in.  The bar was huge and it had a nice outdoor deck.  Also, it looked like there were lots of places to take pictures.

We did not end up choosing it because the decor of the room was not really to my liking (lots of blanket tapestries and an antler chandelier). Also, the room is connected directly to the restaurant which did not give us the privacy we desired.  Additionally, the restaurant is located in the middle of an industrial park.  The back porch overlooks a nice pond and an office building.

I'm sure it is a great venue, just not what we had in mind.  Good luck!

I would have to agree with JennBrynn's assessment of the Onion Pub...it was also a strong contender for my daughter, but we were disappointed to realize the restaurant would remain open during the reception.  The parking lot is small; the venue lacks "curb appeal" ala industrial park but IS lovely once inside.

I am not familiar with Francesca's---it is in the heart of Barrington, which is a lovely little town....and if you have family/friends that would be coming in from the city...they could literally walk from the train station.

If you are still open to suggestions, you might want to look at the Makray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington.  If I remember, the price would be along the lines of the Onion Pub, and it has FANTASTIC curb appeal....far removed from any road/highway....it was literally renovated a few years back to resemble a Scottish cottage in memory of a family member.  The interior is breathtaking --wood molding and windows everywhere!  It is a two level venue with an amazing staircase, and it is a "one party" venue.

    Good luck!

A friend of mine got married at the Onion Pub.  The room is really nice and everything, but like previous posters, they don't close the restaurant.  When we had to walk in, we were out in the hallway near people eating their dinners.  They were excited to see us and wished my friends congratulations, but I thought it was a very odd set up.  Even going to the bathroom, you had to walk all the way to the front of the restaurant.  The food was okay (definitely better dining IN the restaurant).

And yeah, I'd take a look at Makray!  That was our 2nd choice, but the upstairs ballroom could not accommodate the amount of people we were having!  (max is 220 and well our guest list went from 250 to 400 thanks to my mom lol).

We actually ended up choosing Makray for our reception site.  PP was right - prices are very similar to Onion Pub.

Thanks, this is super helpful!  I talked to Makray and they don't have the dates I was looking for (late Aug - early Oct).

    I'll keep looking!

We looked at Makray & Francesca's but decided to go non-traditional & will be having ours at PInstripes in South Barrington (seems to be the area you are looking in).  If you're unfamiliar it's an upscale bowling alley with bocce courts & a restaurant.  They have a banquet room upstairs & our guests can play bocce during the cocktail hour & then the after party (11PM-1AM) will be bowling & late night snacks.  We're really excited to have a unique wedding!   They've been great to work with & the food is really good!  Good luck in your search!

I'm getting married at Makray too! So lovely there... although I don't think their prices compare to The Onion Pub.

    Good luck in your search!
