Alterations suggestions BESIDES Mary Catomy...please help!!!!

I'm amazed at how limited the reviews are for bridal seamstresses, other than Mary Catomy (she has pretty much reached divine status on the knot boards!) I called her today and she has been booked through this August for quite some time.

Anyone have any other suggestions for alterations? I need a bustle/quite a bit taken in, am slightly OCD, and on a budget..which significantly limits my options!

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks ladies!

I have heard good things about the dress doctor. They are located downtown, maybe give them a shot?

If you're willing to go to Naperville, I've heard good things about Sue's Bridal and Alterations.  She has favorable Yelp reviews as well!

I'm planning on using Cori w/Stich of Bliss.  Her quote for my alterations (changing neckline, hem, bustle, etc.) was $130 less than what I was quoted by the store where I purchased my dress. I can't give a review more than that since I haven't had my first fitting yet.

Linda Hill in Oak Park.  Her info is on Yelp, or you can PM me and I will get you her information if you'd like.

I got a bridesmaid dress altered at Ms. Couture on Clybourn in Lincoln Park. My alterations were $100 I think, but she had to take the dress down an entire size. She did a great job though!

You girls are awesome!! I did try calling Sue from Naperville yesterday but she hasn't called back yet. I'm going to look into all the other suggestions. THANK YOU! :)

I am using Sue and I'm VERY excited about it.

I called Stitch of Bliss and they took almost a month to call me back and unfortunately she is not really good at returning emails or phone calls after I tried to book a tentative date with her. I found a recent review that wasn't very good so I got scared (although there's only one negative so it could have been an overly picky bride and blown things out of proportion!)

I partially agree with you here. She called me back right away when I first called her, but then getting ahold of her the second time to set upmy first fitting was difficult.    I've seen good reviews of her work, so I'm going to go with it. She comes to wherever your dress is, so that was super convinient for me.

    Hi-
I've heard really mixed reviews about the dress doctor. I'm in the same boat- waited a bit too long. I can't beleive Mary C. is the ONLY individual seamstress who people suggest. Has anyone sent you suggestions privately? If so, I'd really appreciate it too!
    best wishes.

I'm surprised Mary didn't provide you with a list of alternatives, most good vendors that I worked with would do this...
