Cost for flowers?

Wondering how much you spent and what you got for the money? I got the names of some florists from knotties, but right now I'm just trying to set my overall budget and wondering how much I should expect to spend. Thanks!

Re: Cost for flowers?

  • It all depends on how many are in your WP and how many tables you will have.

We have 5 girls, 5guys, 2 ushers, 1FG, 1RB, 3 moms, 1 granny, 1 g-pa, 2 dads. We estimated about 20 tables (10 high and 10 low vases w/orchids/LEDs/floating candles and petals), 14 pew bows, petals everywhere in the hall, a unity long and low pc. Vases for all of the girls for the head table.

  • We are doing:
    brides bouqet
    6 bridesmaids bouquets
boutineers for 15 people (groomsmen, ushers, dads, ring bearers)
    4 corsages (moms and grandmas)
simple centerpieces for 25 tables (one flower on half the tables, 3 on the other half, there's also candles and other things included in each centerpiece, but not part of the flower budget)
and some decorative something around the door to the venue

All of our flowers are roses, either red or ivory.

Our total for all of the above was under $1000. We were given a recommenadtion for a FANTASTIC florist that I LOVE! I had priced out the above with a few other florists and the total was closer to $3,000.

    Emilye1227...who's your florist!? That's a great quote!

    Vacation
  • I'm not 100 percent locked in on who will be there yet but my estimate is
    Bridal bouquet
    1 brides maid
7 corsages for grams, two moms, two program attendants, one reader and a flower girl
5 boutonnieres for groom, three ushers and one reader
12 tables (which I have not decided how to decorate)

Another question - we went to a country club and they said the basic flower package was included - I didn't get full details on what that is, but is it generally cheaper to go with a florist than with the venue's flowers?

Another question - who sets up the flowers - does the florist deliver them and put them on the tables? Or does the venue do that and do they charge for set up?

    Hey Gottadance,
I also found my prince later in life too, and we got married in September of '10. It looks like you are having a small bridal party, which will save you money overall. I  I had:
    1 Bride  with vase
    2 Bridesmaids with vases
    5 bouts
    2 corsages
Ceremony Site was outside of a chapel, with white chairs. Small shepards hooks were placed in the ground and cones with vibrant colored hydrangia were placed on them with ribbons, it was beautiful. The hydrangia was reused around my cake, it was gorgeous!
6 round tables: Had a trio of tall vases with submerged orchids with candle floating on top, they were stunning! The vases had wide satin ribbon in my colors.
4 long banquet: (seating)arranged in one long table:, short full arrangements, with tons of medium candlesticks and tons of votives.
1 Large Escort Card Table Arrangement
    8 Highboys
1 Birdcage Card Box with floral and ribbon, (rented for the day)
2 medium pillars for our ceremony
I loved my floral, and linens too. The room was stunning and when my planner revealed it to me I actually cried. The groom was stunned. He had no idea what I had planned and kept saying how beautiful it was and what a good job I did.
It was all due to my wonderful florist Kristen Janes, of Kio Kreations. And I have to give my planner (Karolina Warren, Weddings by Karolina)  props too because she was right in there helping with everything.

These florals didn't break the bank BUT the contract was done in 09.
    Good Luck!
BTW: Your Florist should do all the set up of the flowers, mine did all the take down too. You will have to ask the CClub if they do this. All of the florals in vases were given to the guests, and the florist took the vases she supplied for the event.
  • We used Millefiori in Evanston and Tracey was great to work with and came in right at our budget!  We had 7 bouquets (1 bridal+ 4 bridesmaids+ 2 jr bridesmaids), 2 pomander balls, 12 tables, 2 wrist corsages, 8 bouts for the guys.  We used flowers that were in season and that definitely saved us some cash.  Tracey had some great suggestions as well.  It was one area that we splurged a little bit and I'm glad we did.  Our flowers came out *amazing* in our pictures.

Talk to your country club and see what the flower package is.  We went to a wedding at a country club and the 'basic' flower package was pre-made silk flower centerpieces.  I've seen others that are basic carnations and roses, but it depends on what they offer.  The only concern with that is there is no continuity between what's in the flowers with the bridal party and what's on the table.  (It's one area, I was a complete stickler on!)  :)

    Good luck!

I would definitely ask any potential florists AND your venue about this.  My venue was really accommodating and set out all my extra DIY stuff. I believe any type of arrangements or centerpieces a florist will set up for you, but I would be very specific about that and ask.  My florist said she was going to do various things, but then she didn't on the day of.
  • Hi guys - appreciate all the feedback, but no one is listing costs. I'm trying to figure out what are the costs so I can figure out a range of pricing for my overall budget. Are people uncomfortable sharing what they paid?

I just opened our contract. Our exact total for everything I listed above was $951.76 and that included a travel fee, even though the florist is traveling an hour and half ea.ch way, as well as tax. Also, I sent PMs to everyone that requested all the info for the florist.

  • Wow - that IS a great price!

  • I have not booked with anyone yet but i have met with 4 florists, my 5th is tonight. i am looking to get 1 bridal, 6 bm, 1 gm bout, 6 gm bout, 2 usher bout, 2 flower girls, 3 moms, 3 dads, 2 gmas, 2 gpas, 2 female readers, 10 pews, aisle runner, 20 centerpieces 3 different designs (tall, low, trio submerged)... all the estimates are ranging from $2500-$3200. my flowers are "in season" but they are not the normal everyday wedding flowers... i am using alot of orchids, hydrangea, buttom mums, spider mums, and there are some others that i am forgetting the names of. i am limiting the roses just because i feel like they are too traditional for my taste. my overall wedding budget is 30K, and according to the wedding budget planner my flower budget should be right around $2400.. so i am trying to stick close to $2500. forgot to take in account the set up, delivery and take down fee, and also the tax. i was under budget until those were added in. =)  hope that helps!!!!
  • Your cost is going to be dependent on what types of flowers and centerpieces you want to include for your wedding.  We used orchids in our bouquets and alternated submerged, high and low centerpieces which also included a variety of orchids, so our budget was $2500 and we came in slightly under.  If you want flowers that are in season or feature other less expensive flowers, your cost is going to be drastically different.  Print out some pictures and talk to a florist.  I had 2 picutres of bouquets that I liked and when we met with Tracey at Millefiori, she designed our flowers and made some great suggestions to stay within our budget.
  • I know I was floored by the cost of flowers once I started getting quotes. Our contract includes 1 bride bouq, 3 maid bouqs, 9 bouts, 4 corsages, 18 cp's + a few more arrangements for the reception, and my florist really worked to get down to $2k (including tax, labor, and delivery). Half our cp's will be the water-in-tall-cylinders kind.

Most of our flowers will be roses. I was more interested in colors than actual flower types, but I guess in late June, roses will be cheapest/most plentiful. :)

  • We had:
    -bridal boquet
    -4 bm bouquets
-12 boutineers for various BMs, ushers, dads, etc.
    -4 moms/grandma corsages
    -2 church arrangements
-8 centerpieces (I used non-floral for the rest)
and it was just under $1000
-I had all roses and tulips in May. Ditto what @foopygirl said about different flowers are more expensive and it depends on what season you want them. While I thought we got a great deal, my flowers were awful.
  • Ours is 1700 for:

We have 5 girls, 5guys, 2 ushers, 1FG, 1RB, 3 moms, 1 granny, 1 g-pa, 2 dads. We estimated about 20 tables (10 high and 10 low vases w/orchids/LEDs/floating candles and petals), 14 pew bows, petals everywhere in the hall, a unity long and low pc. Vases for all of the girls for the head table. Including set up/delivery/tax
  • Divadancer - who did you go through? That seems like a very good price. I'm thinking that with around 12 tables maybe I'll do flowers on half the tables to save $ and do some other less expensive centerpieces on others.
