Vendor Reviews

Hi girls :) I got married on 2/6/10 in Wadsworth and wanted to share some of my favorite vendors... I know how helpful it was reading everyone's recommendations when I was planning, so I hope this helps! If you have any questions, feel free to email me: jjack at neoucom.edu

Rehearsal Dinner- Bravo: huge A+! The food was wonderful and their banquet room is fabulous.  Their pricing was ~$18/person, but it varies on your custom menu.

Reception- Akron/Fairlawn Hilton: The ballroom is beautiful and Mary is super organized and easy to work with.  I had many guests tell me how great the food was, and how nice it was that they could stay where the reception was being held.

Florist- Roses for Weddings: huge A+! Ety is amazing.  Check out her website, all her previous work is on there, as well as her pricing.  She gives you a custom website with your complete order so you can reference it at any time.  She gave me exactly what I wanted and made it work with my budget.  Half of my centerpieces were candles (DIY) and she even set up and tore down those for me!  She also does linens which were great quality.  She is also super accessible and usually responded to my emails within minutes :)

DJ-Big Ear Entertainment: huge A+! the music and mc-ing was perfect, everyone was on the dance floor all night :)  I also used them for invitations, which were lovely.  Easy to get ahold of and wonderful to work with.

Sparklers- SparklersOnline.com: website is super user friendly and the sparklers were the best deal I could find.  I recommend getting the longest lasting ones, which worked perfect for our sendoff!

Makeup- Alyssa at MC Hair Consultants: She was great! She uses MAC cosmetics, does airbrushing, and is great with fake eyelashes.  She made me look 100x better than usual!  She will come to your home as well.

Groomsmen Caricatures- Kari (contact me for her info): we had a hard time finding a groomsmen gift we liked, and this was perfect! We sent a picture of each groomsment and the groom to Kari, a local artist, who made a caricature of them sitting around a poker table with a quote, the date, etc.  It was awesome, and the guys liked it too!

Photography- Z Media: TBD! Lisa & Wes were great to work with and we are excited to get our pictures back in a few weeks.  Our engagement pictures were lovely, so I'm optimistic the wedding photography will be great :)

Sounds like you had a wonderful day! Congrats! I love the caricatures idea. Very unique. Question... ballpark figure, how much was your DJ (i.e. closer to $500 or $1k)?

It is $700 for 5 hours, but they give bridal show discounts, etc.  You also get a discount if you buy your invitations from them as well: $50 off your DJ service and 15% off your invites. :)

The make-up was $55, with $10 for airbrushing and $30 for lashes.  I paid the same for my trial. It sounds like a lot, but I felt totally beautiful on our big day which was so worth it!

Did you use a videographer?  I had the toughest time finding one in the area.  I eventually went with a company based out of Akron.  I'll write a review soon.  They were amazing and actually lowered thier price to fit my budget.
