Name Change

Hi girls, I got married in June and now that I'm back from my honeymoon, I need to get going on my name change.  I know this has been posted before, so I'm sorry, but can anyone give me some information on the order in which I'm supposed to do this?  I live in Kane County and I just picked up my marriage certificate/license, but I don't know where to start.  Anybody have a link or a list?TIA!Erica

Your first 2 stops need to be at the DMV and the Social Security office. It doesn't matter which you do first, just be sure to have plenty of ID and your marriage cert. with you. That's pretty much it in terms of legal stuff. After that, you'll have to switch over:- Insurance policies (home, rent, car, health, dental, vision, etc.)- Bank accounts (checking, savings, 401k, Roth IRAs, stocks, etc.)- Utility accounts (Gas, electric, phone, cable, cell, water, etc.)- Titles (home, car, etc.)- Credit Card accounts- Miscellaneous (magazine subscriptions, online shopping accounts (PayPal, etc.), library card, Costco/Sam's Club memberships, gym membership)That's all I can think of for now. I'd keep a piece of paper near your computer. As emails come in, make a note to change that over. Same thing with regular mail.
