Name Changes

Hi Ladies,A month or so ago there was a very detailed post on how to change your name.  I cannot find it and am trying to fill out paperwork ahead of time.  Does anyone have the link to the post or have advice on which steps to complete first - SSN, DL, etc?Thanks!

There's really not all that much paperwork to fill out - Once you get your marriage certificate (you'll need to get this a couple weeks after the wedding) - you can take that along with a picture ID to the social security office and drivers license office to get your name changed.  It doesn't matter which of these you do first. Then you can go about changing your name with your banks, credit cards, voters registration, titles (car/house), insurance, utilities, post office, passport, etc....  Some will require you to send/fax a copy of your marriage certificate and others will simply change it over the phone.  It depends upon their individual policy and you more than likely will need to call each one to find out what their policy is, but like I said there really wasn't paperwork to fill out for any place I went to - social security does have one online I filled out, but they didn't even end up taking it when I went in.  HTH!
