Hi- I'm new here and you were the only knottie I could find that is having her wedding at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield!  We're in the process of narrowing it down and think we're going to go with it for our ceremony/reception venue! Just wondering if you could provide any insight/opinion/review so far?  Also, we're trying to decide on the ballroom vs. pavilion tent- leaning toward pavilion. Any comments are appreciated- TIA!

Yeah unfortunately, I haven’t found anyone else on here with the same venue.  :(    We were originally going to have our reception in the Pavilion, but my mom finally gave me a guest list (which puts us nearly at 400) and the pavilion could comfortably hold 230 guests (or if you squeeze 12 at a table, 276)…so we are moving to the ballroom.  It’s a little disappointing, because for the past year, I’ve been picturing getting married in the pavilion & having a white wedding and we also had booked a backdrop for our head table with Yanni Design Studio.  I guess that can be used for the ballroom…anyways…we were working with Katie for awhile until she left in June and we are now working with Barbara.   A few things that I had asked Katie – smoking is allowed by the patio area in the Pavilion, they do have a sound package if you need one for cocktail hour and if you are not going with your DJ, they have metal stands if you wanted to created your own table names, their stuff does take care of most of the set up for table numbers, placecards, menu cards etc, and there is no cake tasting (a slight bummer!).  I do want to have a candy buffet for favors and it sounded like if they have a vendor for a certain candy (like M&Ms), we have to go through them, but if I wanted something specific (let’s say Ghiradelli), then we are allowed to bring that in.  It was a little strange to me because they said they did not want outside food coming in.  I also asked about a Groom’s cake, and they said that we would have to order it from a bakery (so again, that confused me about the whole not bringing outside food in…).  I’m still not sure if I’m going to have either.  Oh and we also asked about the alcohol package – we wanted to upgrade the scotch and they said it wouldn’t be a problem.  Overall, they are really nice and pretty flexible on how you want things (so far), so I do highly recommend!     A friend of mine is going to be there either this Saturday or next…I can’t remember, but I’ll post a message to you about when I hear from her!   When is your wedding?

Thanks soo much for your response!  We actually just looked at the Hyatt last weekend and are thinking we may sign the contract this weekend :)  It was between there and the Marriott Oakbrook Hills but the Marriott is turning out to be just too expensive.  We really liked the Hyatt's extras that are included in the package and Barbara seems super helpful!  That stinks about not being able to have yours in the pavilion anymore but seriously the ballroom is really nice too! We're still not sure which we're going with. The date we have reserved is Sept 5, 2010- the Sunday of Labor Day weekend so at least people will have Monday off of work to recover :)Boooo! huge bummer about the no cake tasting...I may try and get them to reconsider as my mom is very set on this part of the planning heh.  Definitely let me know after you hear from your friend- I'm excited to finally start the real planning :)

oh also, where else were you looking at for your reception before booking the Hyatt?  Just curious to see if they are the same we were looking at!

Ahh we looked everywhere!  lol.  We really liked Makray Memorial Golf Club (not big enough), Victoria's Banquets (Rosemont location - loved the room, but the location/parking/hotel were eh), Venuti's ($25k min was out of the question...), Cafe La Cave (Hyatt had more extras), and Independence Grove (too far).  In the city, I thought about Pazzo's at the 311 S. Wacker building, but at the end of it, it just seemed like more work/more expensive.  Good luck with the planning!  I will let you know what my friend says!  And hey, if you do manage to get them to give you a cake tasting, let me know!  :)  lol.
