White Shirt and Ivory Vest

Hi Ladies, I don't really post much, but I really need some opinions.   My FI and I have just begun looking at tuxedo styles.  My dress is ivory, but a pretty light ivory, and so he will have an ivory vest and ivory tie. The guys are wearing sapphire blue vests and ties.  We would like all the guys to wear white shirts but the girl at Mens Wearhouse acted like it was the weirdest thing to have ivory vest and tie and a white shirt.  I feel like I have seen a lot of people do this but I could be wrong.  I also think the ivory shirt would look weird with the blue vests so that's another reason we would like the white.  What do you ladies think....does white shirt and ivory accessories work or no?  Thanks so much!

She's weird. White shirt and ivory vests will look very nice and classy.

The girl at Men's Wearhouse is a doofus. Many people choose to dress the groom in a right white shirt and ivory vest/tie. In fact, that's what I've seen most often recently and it looks very sharp! I personally thought the ivory shirt at MW looked dingy.

The Men's Warehouse lady is nuts.  I think most ivory shirts look dingy, and most grooms go with the ivory tie and vest with white shirt look.  I know we are!Go for it.

A word of warning:  be VERY VERY clear that you want the groom and GM to all have white shirts.  When I ordered the tuxes once they heard the dress was ivory, they automatically went into ivory shirt mode and I couldn't turn them off of it.  I told the girl 50,000 times I wanted white shirts but when the guys picked up their tuxes sure enough, the shirts were ivory (and they looked really gross) We were able to get them fixed but it was a stress that we didn't need!  My DH had a white shirt with ivory tie and black vest you can see some of our pics here http://mthreestudio.squarespace.com/blog/2009/10/7/joliet-wedding-photographer-rialto-square-theater-morgan-jos.htmlMy dress was also a very light ivory.

Thanks for the heads up Morgie....I will definitely make sure I am clear when I say white!  And btw, your wedding looked beautiful, I love the color the bridesmaids had on.  And we never thought of ivory tie and black vest and I think it looked great.

that's weird because when we went to Men's Warehouse, the girl there actually suggested NOT to get an ivory shirt with ivory vest and tie, she suggested that a white shirt would look cleaner and crisper.

Thanks for the pic lmb, that looks really nice and clean.  I am glad you mentioned you got it at Black Tie, we are definitely going to check them out because I think that ivory shade in your picture looks perfect compared to my dress.
