Marriage certificate??

HI, How long on average does it take to get your marriage certificate back from Cook County?  I want to get the name change rolling, but need the certficate to do alot of it!!  I got married on Sept 26th, almost three weeks now...  Thanks!

As long as the license was sent in immediately I think you should be fine. I went in a month later and had no issues.

They don't automatically send it to you, you have to either mail in an application or go in with the application for your certificate.

And they are very ugly, I don't know what I was expecting to receive back. After having seen my husbands grandmothers recently, I thought they would look similar, I was very disappointed! But you should be good to get it, got married on the 19th and have already got the new SS card, drv's license, etc.

I was married on 9/27, and the reverend mailed the certificate in immediately. Called last Friday to place an order (you can order it over the phone). She couldn't tell me if the certificate was available yet or not, and she said it can take up to 30 days in Cook County for the Clerk's office to be able to even process the request. You can still place an order though and they will mail it as soon as they can.
