POLL: Dress Alterations

1. How much did you or will you budget for alterations while shopping for your dress? 2. Did you or will you get them done at the same place where you purchased your dress? 3. What alterations did or will your dress need? 4. If you already know, what was the final cost of alterations? 5. Were there any problems or did the process go smoothly?

    1. How much did you or will you budget for alterations while shopping for your dress?  I would say I didn't want to pay more than $200.2. Did you or will you get them done at the same place where you purchased your dress?  Bought my dress at DB and since their alterations are a rip off (and usually poor) I went with Mary Catomy.3. What alterations did or will your dress need? She did the bustle, brought the length up a bit and shortened my halter.  She also shortened my crinoline and my wrap.4. If you already know, what was the final cost of alterations? $1005. Were there any problems or did the process go smoothly? Easiest part of getting married.

    1. How much did you or will you budget for alterations while shopping for your dress? I didn't really have a set amount but wanted to try and keep dress and alterations under $1000 total so that left about $250 for alterations after dress was purchased.2. Did you or will you get them done at the same place where you purchased your dress? No.  I purchased my dress at Evas in Orland Park and they wanted $275 for alterations - I felt I could get it done cheaper and better service elsewhere. I ended up using Sue of Sue's bridal and alterations in Naperville and loved her.3. What alterations did or will your dress need? Bustle and a hem - plus she added a clip at the top of my dress in the back.4. If you already know, what was the final cost of alterations? $175 - there were three separate layers of fabric she needed to deal with - plus the hem was a bit tricky, but she did a wonderful job with it.5. Were there any problems or did the process go smoothly? They went very smoothly.

I've know the "BEST"seamstress! Came for Italy! Many years experience! She is truley the best of the best. You will not find anyone that is better! She can do the impossiable. She is often called in to fix what other seamstresses can't do or messed up. She is utilized by top-notch bridal salons. If something can be done, she is the one. She also designs wedding gowns from scratch. She has designed formal gowns for me that include Bridesmaid, Communion, Prom, and Homecoming. She is the only one I would ever trust with my wedding dress. You can call her at 708-349-6069 ask for Michela.  You will not be dissappointed!  She is the BEST!

I bought my dress @ Belle Vie & am doing alterations through The Dress Doctor, their partner in alterations.

I didn't have a budget for my dress or alterations.

I just finished my first fitting appointment, and the total is going to be $750.

They are putting an internal belt in the bodice, putting cups in, overall taking in the bodice, two inch hem, french bustle, tapering the boob boning to soften it, and adding crinoline under the skirt.

So far, I really like them.
