Thank God For the Broom

Hello all you brides! So were getting married on June 19th, 2010. We've got our recpetion( Sofitel), church, have my dress, and then I kinda took the summer off. Thank God my soon to be hubbie ( aka Broom) has been getting us back on wedding planning track. Kinda feeling lost, what should be the very next and most important thing to get done?? Pictures, lighting, bridesmaid dresses; the thing is I just want it to be done and enjoy just being us and together.

I'd probably do the photographer next, and then the dj/band.  Those will book up the fastest.  You can look online for ideas for rings and wedding party attire but those probably don't need to be ordered just yet.And I totally hear ya about wanting the planning to be over!  lol

We're having a June wedding and we got most of our vendors booked last year and earlier this year. I too am guilty of procrastinating though....I just asked my BM's figuring that I had all the time in the world. I just realized that I sort of put the girls in a bind b/c we have to order the dresses soon, and it's the holiday season coming up. Money is tight with everyone and I don't want to inconvenience the girls if it can be avoided. That being said, the good vendors book quickly. I would get on that! =) I very much appreciate my FI too. He's the budget master, otherwise I would end up blowing the whole budget and be in the poor house for years. Cute nickname by the way!

This may be a blunt question, but FI found a photographer he is kind of sold on. But I kinda feel rushed in a way. I mean how do I know its a good price, but I dont really feel like looking around ya know?? Is ther websites I can compare prices with etc

As far as I know there's no website that compares photographer prices, so you really will have to do a little looking around. But I found that it was a very personal decision. There were ones that cost twice as much whose portfolios were not my style at all. I'd suggest that you find a few portfolios you and the Broom adore and then get quotes for those.

IMO I would get the rest of your vendors booked ASAP. Some vendors book up 2 years in advance!! We booked all of our vendors for our May 2010 wedding months ago(January/Feb) and were able to book who we wanted except the DJ who was already booked!!!   HTH :)

Yea, my wedding's a week after yours and I had my photographer and DJ booked back in April.  I recommend contacting Toast and Jam or Style Matters for DJ,  if they are busy, maybe they can recommend someone.I'm using Danielle Aquiline for photography, but I think she's booked... Ask around... that's how I found allllll of my vendors, was basically on here.  Post exactly price points you are looking for, and you'll get tons of help.  :)I'd get flowers going too.  I booked mine 2 weeks ago...But bridesmaid dresses, I haven't done that yet... I need to get on that.  So, you're ok there.  I think.  :)

The DJ issue not an issue. I manage a nightclub in Chicago, finally those long night hours pay off. Ive got like 3 different amazing Chicago Djs doing it for NOTHING. Thank you so much for all your help.

ha, I'm exactly like you... I hate the planning part and would just like the results... I stopped planning from around May until end of August... So, really -- I was in the same boat as you. I just pick one  thing and research it heavily for about a week or so, and then decide.  Then pick something else...  It is so like a part-time job sitting on the internet.  :)  That's awesome you have the DJ thing already-- that's the part I'm most excited about.  Good luck with everything!!!  I can't wait for it to be June!
