My cousin and his wife got married there last September - it was absolutely beautiful! The food was great, and people appreciated having the outdoor balcony. Many of our older relatives went out there so that they could talk without having to yell over the band. It was also nice that they had the separate room for the cocktail hour (after their wedding, this became a must-have for my wedding next July). I originally thought that parking might be a problem, but there is a parking garage right next door. If my cousin's wedding hadn't been there, we definitely would have considered it for our wedding.

Thank you all very much! In consideration, but agree, the prices seem a little high.

I had my wedding reception there.  While it was beautiful and the food was very good, we had numerous problems with communication.  We were promised certain things, things that were in our contract...and yet, they attempted to charge or overcharge us for items we had agreed upon a year in advance.  We almost didn't have a cake because of their (in)actions.  It got so bad that I had to contact the owner.  Not exactly what a bride wants to do a week before the wedding. All in all, everything worked out, and people had a great time.  Hopefully they've fixed the issues...

I recently attended a Bridal shower at the Metropolis Ballroom and thought it was fantastic. The space is beautiful, the food was great......loved it. After talking with the bride who had her shower there to get an idea on their experience with the venue, I decided to schedule an appointment to look into booking my shower there, as well. After sitting down with Michael (event coordinator) and beginning to look at menu combinations, etc.-my mother stopped the conversation to find out what price range we were in at that point.....Michael told us it would be $75/80 per person! CRAZY expensive for just a shower (family style, mind you). He then went on to tell us that there was an $11,000 MINIMUM for food/beverage.....whether we decide use that money on actual food/beverage choices or not! Naturally, I contacted my friend who had her shower there, and asked her if SHE had an $11,000 minimum ....only to find out she did not. Do they think people don't talk??? I'm not sure if they were trying to swindle us, or if this $11,000 minimum is a "new thing" at the Metropolis, but either way..... I didn't like how we were treated & I most definitely will NOT recommend this place to anyone I know for this fact alone! I didn't like not knowing about this "so called $11,000 minimum" BEFORE making my mom, sister and mother-in-law meet me there for an appointment. What a waste of time!

We just met with Michael last night in regards to holding our ceremony and reception here.  He was very upfront with us about costs - $16,000 minimum on a Friday night in the summer, plus tax and service, and an $850 ceremony fee.  It includes all chairs, table, linens, a/v equipments, and 2 bartenders per 100 people.  This is the first place we have looked at, and while we really loved the ballroom and the set-up of the whole place in general, we're not sure if it's possible budget-wise.  I really liked their flexibility.  We told them we wanted a less formal, cocktail reception with high boys and passed food.  He immediately picked up on the concept and ran with it, and we were really happy with his thoughts.  If anyone else has any input on pricing, I'd love to hear it.  We have no idea what the "norm" is for a venue in our area, and we have no idea if the Metropolis is about average, or high for what you get.  We really want to do something other than a hotel or "banquet hall", and this is the closest thing we've found to our vision.
