I wanted to get back to you on your question about invites. Our wedding is June 25th, but I still don't know if I want to DIY it or if I'm just going to order invites. I'm so afraid that I'm going to screw everything up either way I go. How are you DIYing it?

Ugh, trust me...I know exactly what you mean!!! I'm going to DIY only b/c it's so much cheaper. I've looked at MyGatsby and something Diva, but they're ridiculous. If I DIY, I can have great looking invites, for much, MUCH less.I'm ordering these items from Cards & Pockets:- Pocket Folds: http://tinyurl.com/yz34w82- Blank Invitations (Printable): http://tinyurl.com/y8creg6- Inserts (Printable): http://tinyurl.com/62mb8yI will also order the envelopes from them. I have the 25% coupon, well...actually it could have already expired, so I need to check into this!!!My FI has a highspeed printer that he rents for legal crap, so I think I'm just going to print a few on there to see how they come out. The nice thing about Cards & Pockets is that I can order a sample kit and try it all out first...which I've done already, but I'm going to get another kit to see how I like a different size. I also plan to create the stickers with the monogram I created, which I will use to close the pocket fold. Do you have any ideas what you'll be doing? Also - if your wedding is only two weeks after mine, I should show you all the crap I have, and maybe if you're interested, I can touch base with you after to see if you want any of it. You know, first dibs. LOL.Kate

Hey Jen!! I really like that idea. You're blog is really helpful. For some reason the thought of invites really overwhelms me. I have been looking at and designing stuff pretty much all afternoon on myjeanm.com. I have a headache now! The problem with the websites that I've been do is that I can only design the invite and not the inserts...or at least that I've seen. I feel confident DIYing a lot of stuff but invites seem way over my head. I even have a BM that designed something that I really like. I just heard it's a pain and might not even save that much money. My thoughts were to just buy the damn things and save frustration. Now Im not so sure. (I'm having wishy washy issues today)However if the savings is significant and I can drink wine and eat pizza while doing them, I will DIY the invites!

Oh, duh...I forgot to share my "wonderful" ideas. =/ I just want navy and pink...that's it. There's one invite that I saw that was navy paper with pink font. I'm not sure if that would be possible on a 'puter at home though. Also, I wanted insert thingys...I forgot what they are called. It seems pretty simple and straight forward but I just don't know where to start.

Play around on powerpoint... my friend is a graphic designer and she has all the fancy design progams, she did my actual invite and inserts, but I did my program and guest book on powerpoint... it does take some playing around and adjusting a little here and there, but once you get it... its simple just to cut and glue everything....  we had a lot of fun doing it!my sister is getting married this spring, and we already decided to DIY her invites only because it was more fun!  I think i saved money compared to Weddingpaperdivas and the expensive online sellers, but I am sure it might have been cheaper all said and done if i had gone through some of the discount websites...  but I thought all those invites were ugly  :)

Jen - I was actually checking out your blog the other day, after seeing the link in your siggy. LOVE all of your stuff. Thanks for the heads up on the diva website...I knew it had the name "diva" in it, just couldn't think of the exact site. I do like the idea of having a pizza and wine night and getting these things DONE! Nicole *themorriseys* also did hers, and has a detailed instructional guide as to how she did them, which I'm using as my inspiration. (thank you Nicole). She also sent her templates, fonts, etc. - essentially everything she used to do all of her paper products. If you like, I can send them to you. Email me at thame2010@yahoo.com.We should have a DIY Knottie night and help one another with all of this...LOL! :)
