I just received them. We will get married next October. My fiance's family is mostly out of town guests. We were thinking of sending them out after thanksgiving. Is it too soon?
I don't necessarily think it is too soon, but be aware that people will be receiving a ton of mail over the next month and a half (Christmas cards, etc), so it might be better to wait until January.
I sent mine out in January for my Labor Day Weekend wedding and that worked fine. A lot of people were from out of town also and most didn't make their travel arrangements until 1-2 months before my wedding. Including my siblings. I think you should wait until, at the earliest, April/May to send yours out. That give people 6-7 months to make travel arrangements. Otherwise people are going to lose them and forget about it.
My wedding is in August and I'm sending them out in January. Like pp mentioned, I don't want to send them during the Christmas mail season. So maybe this is a little self-absorbed, but I don't want to send them out before Christmas because I don't want them them to be ignored in all the holiday excitement.
I sent them out this week for my June 2010 wedding. I wanted to get them out before the holiday mail rush and I sent the hotel information with so hopefully people will start books so we can plan for transportation for the guests.
