Chicago Hotels & Tourism

Hey, all, I'm hoping you'll be able to give me some local advice. We're most likely going to Chicago for a mini-moon after our wedding in April, so I want to book our flight and hotel soon. We'll be flying in from New Jersey and neither of us have been to Chicago before. Any recommendations on a nice hotel that won't break the bank? I'm looking on Orbitz right now and my target price is about $1000 total for the flight + 2 nights in the hotel. We'd like to stay someplace where we can easily walk or take public transportation to see the sights (I don't think we'll be renting a car). I think the Amalfi is first on my list so far ... any reviews or alternate suggestions? Also, any suggestions for things that we simply must see while we're there? Thanks very much!

That seems like a lot for two nights and flight...but I live here, so I don't really know...My fiance and I actually paid less than that for 3 days, 4 nights in New York a few weeks ago. Some places to check out:Sears Tower (or ugh, they call it the Willis Tower now)Navy PierShopping on Michigan Avenue/the Mag MileMuseum Campus (Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium - all near Soldier Field)Art InstituteMillennium ParkSignature Room (grab some drinks and check out the view)Wrigley Field (and I guess US Cellular as well...lol)United Center and see MJ's shrineMuseum of Science and IndustryArchitectual tours on a boatLincoln Park Zoo (it's free)the Beaches (though it'll still probably be chilly in April, but nice to walk around the lakefront)It's pretty easy to get around the city - lots of buses and el trains and lots of things are definitely walkable!Have fun :)

Hi, I highly recommend the James Hotel!  I've stayed there several times and the service, rooms and amenities are fantastic.  Additionally, you have David Burke's Primehouse, JBar, a spa, and a world-class fitness center, right at the hotel - with Chicago deep dish pizza right around the corner, so you don't have to go far to see what Chicago has to offer!  This is where our wedding room block is - it's wonderful!
