We've been together for five years!

We were married on our 6 year dating anniversary, will be together 7 years this Sept. We are happy newlyweds married for 6 months.

AND we are older, a lot older than you all. We've been married before and gone through divorces. We have teen aged children. But still that is no predictor of if a marriage will last. Some people don't learn from their bad choices in a mate and choose the same kind of person the second time around.

Some are very cautious and date a long time to be very sure. I just don't think there is any good predictor of how long a marriage will last, although there are studies. You can google the results AND It has a lot to do with the age you got married...
It's an interesting subject to be sure.

Second marriages break up at a rate of about 65%. I think blending families has a lot to do with that. I also think jumping into a relationship and getting married too quickly has something to do with it just as in a first marriage.

 I always cringe when I hear of people getting married after only one year of knowing each other, it makes me wonder if they are making the same bad choice again....especially when there are young children involved.

It takes a long time to get to know someone, and your priorities change through the years. Especially form your early 20's to your 30's. It depends if you grow up together or grow apart.

I'm 28 and our 7 year anniversary is coming up on the 24th of this month.  Our wedding isn't until June of 2012, so we will have been together for 8 years by then.

Dont laugh kiddos! dated for 5 years, lived together for 13...finally decied it was time to marry even though we arent going to have kids, for financial/insurance reason. Im a "older" bride but still having fun..I adore and am as crazy about my guy as the day I met him

I'm 27 and he is 29.  We are getting married on our 3 year anniversary.
