I can't decide on wedding colors!!!!

Hey ladies! I am doing pretty well on where I am at in my planning, Our wedding date is 10/16/10 and I have a church and venue booked, a phpotographer and a florist (just working on finding a good DJ now). The only thing I just can't seem to decide on is a color scheme!!!

It is a fall wedding but I do NOT want the typical dark red, burnt orange and brown theme. Our venue is Lake Forest Country Club (a gorgeous, old, tudor building with a lot of dark wood paneling and detail on the inside) so I don't want the colors to be too dark and over power the building. My dress is ivory with lace and I want to keep the whole theme very classic and a tad vintage. I don't want a "flashy" wedding.. some romantic and elegant but appropriate for the fall.. and ideas???? Thanks!!!!

I don't have any suggestions for you, but check out this post: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/oct-2010-brides-what-are-your-colors-looking-for-inspiration

All of the girls who posted are October 2010 brides, so maybe you will find inspiration from one of their color schemes.

My first thought was some shade of purple with gold accents (or silver...).  However, I don't know how you feel about that color, so it might be a good idea to check out the post mentioned above by pp.

thanks!!! Actually dark purple was going to  be my main color and I was toying with the idea of gold.. so you were right on the spot :) just going to wait until my MOH can come into town and help me look at dresses! I need a 2nd opinion and a color that sounds pretty may not look pretty on! thanks girls!

I think dark purple would look beautiful on almost anyone since it can be close to a black depending on the material. We had purple dresses but even though they were chiffon for a summer wedding they were still dark and looked great on every skin tone. I love purple and gold together.

If you like purple then that is good. Another suggestion is to think of a color you like. Do you see a pattern in nail polish color, clothing, how you decorate your space? That might help you make a decision.

My wedding is October 22nd and my colors are from David's Bridal- it's Sangria (that is the color dress the bridesmaids will wear), Marine (it's a dark blue), and Pewter. I am like you, I didn't want the normal orange, red, brown theme but I wanted something that will compliment the fall colors at least. Hope this helps you!

Oh, and if you need a good DJ- Midnight Music. My brother is one of the DJ's and a lot of my friends have had really good experiences with them. They're doing my wedding. Here is a link: http://weddingfun.com/

Im not having a Fall wedding, but my first thoughts also went to Dark purples. But I'm biased, Im using shades of purple. Lapis, Eggplant, Lavender.
I think I'd do pewter or silver with the Purple.

How about gold and a bright copper color, and use bright reds/yellows/copper as your florals. BTW, flowers don't have to be matchy-matchy with the wedding colors. It actually looks better for them to coordinate and accent them. Good luck!

dark purple sounds quite lovely no matter the season!  there are so many flattering details and accents you can add in that color without being overpowering.

i didn't want a really colorful wedding, just elegant and romantic.  I settled on white/gold but mostly neutrals and metallics and my BMs wore their own cocktail dresses with dark royal purple bouqets...i thought it looked amazing!  Laughing

Knowing the inside of LFCC (dk woods/deep red/burgandy carpet)  I like the idea of egplant plum with a champagne more than gold but gold would be preferable over silvers.  Or stick with just golds and creams/ivory could be an option.

I got married last fall and my colors were dark purple and gold.  Look in my married bio and you can see pics.  I incorporated fall colors in the flowers (specifcally oranges and reds were what I wanted).  I have purple bags (multiple sizes), purple paper, and plenty of gold ribbon left over if you're interested at all.  There are more pics online at the pictage sight.  Just search Wheeler Moss wedding on September 12th.

Thank you all so much for your help!! I like the idea of plum and gold (or champagne) but I hate gold jewelry.. I know its kind of a picku detail but can I wear silver jewelry if gold is one of my colors??

I see now reason why you can't wear silver jewelry just because one of your colors is gold.  You shouldn't do something that "isn't you".  Besides, nowadays, it's becoming more and more accepted to wear gold and silver together.  If you want to wear silver - go for it!  :)

Love the dark purple idea...its so hot for this year too...like gold with it, but how about something more original like a coppery orangey color?  If done right, the flowers would be amazing with the dark wood of the reception hall!  Good Luck...!
