Centerpieces/Flowers..I have no idea

Hey! I am having a hard time figuring out what the florists do. Before I go for an appt. I want to know...are they the ones that do the centerpieces?

We are looking for a big vase and flowers with led lights under the vase centerpieces. Someone said we can do those ourselves, but I have no idea how since we need them to have flowers.

Any centerpiece/florist advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Yes, florists can do the centerpieces you are talking about. I think you could also do it yourself if you wanted to. You can go to a craft supply store/online to find those floral LED lights, and there are a couple of websites you can order flowers in bulk, or order through Costco/Sams.

    Good luck :)

Ditto what aimers said. Some people also order silk flowers online and use those so they can do center pieces ahead of time. I considered doing my own centerpieces, but decided it was worth the money to have the florist do it so we didn't have to worry putting everything together and transporting everything to the reception.

Ditto pp.  I was going to do mine.  Then I realized I don't want the hassel of transportation and setting up.  Everyone is different though.  Good luck!

Same as above, I considered doing it myself too. However, once I realized I would have to be the one to actually bring everything to venue, set up, take down, and then figure out what to do with it all after, I opted for a florist.  They include delivery, set up and take down in price. So it is like you are renting the products.

If you go into any florist with pictures of things you like, they can recreate it for you.

I think everyone thinks of DIY for floral centerpieces in the beginning, but when you think it through it is a ton of work for either you or a family member. I personally didn't want to "work" at my wedding.

I highly recommend Kio Kreations! I also didn't have a clue about florals or decor when I started planning our wedding. When I met with Kristen she helped me choose my colors, basesd on my venue and helped with the overall design of the space and decor and  she even visited my venue with me as she had not worked there before, we had a ball designing my decor. and it didn't cost me anything extra.

Kristen did did a fabulous job. She does the tall centerpieces with LED lighting and florals. She has done this for a recent wedding and it is on her webiste www.kiokreations.com along with thousand of pics of her florals in every color combo imanginable.

She did the tall centerpieces for us and they were FABULOUS, candles floated on top and orchids were in them.  Gorgeous! My bouquet was my favorite part of the wedding.

    Good Luck!

PS: when you go to her webiste and click on services, then floral design, the pic featured is of my bridesmaids flowers, they were stunning!

I'm making my own ceterpieces, however I have a background in horticulture.  I am using vintage milk glass vases of varying sizes and shapes.  Each table will have a goblet/candy dish type one with a potted plant (thyme or mosses), a tall vase with cut flowers (purchased from www.fiftyflowers.com) and a small bud vase.  The tall vase will be stacked on a few vintage books and the table numbers I made myself too, cut out of a book page, glued to a bamboo skewer, and stuck into the goblet with the plant.  Should be really neat and exactly what I wanted for my wedding.

Yes, it is a lot of work and planning, but it has saved me over double on flowers if I had used a florist.  I have the time (I'm a teacher and out on summer break) so why not use my creativity and time to its advantage?  I am however, having a friend florist make the bouquets and corsages.  I didn't trust myself enough to do that.

For the ceremony, I did DIY again.  I bought beautiful potted flowers from a local nursery and planted them in nice pots.  I like the idea of live plants instead of cut so I can enjoy them on my deck all summer after the wedding is over :)

I am having a Florist do mine, I went with Catherine's Garden.  They are out in the burbs, but they have been great, and gave me a lot of ideas for things that no one else did that will really help make my wedding unique.  I am having candle-operas but I know they will do straight tall ones as well.

Also if you are still looking for limo they are connected to absolute dream limo and will give you an addition 10% discount if you book with Absolute Dream.  (That actually dropped our price by about $250).
