First Look *Clickly* Poll

Are you doing a first look before the ceremony?  Or did you?  What's your reason for when you've decided to each other for the first time in your wedding attire?

If you're already married; are you happy about the way you choose to see other first or would you change it?

I would only change the location, unfortunately.. we were unable to do one at the original location we chose due to timing constraints. I would definitely recommend it, it calmed a lot of my nerves just seeing my then Fiance. It totally did not ruin the "moment" of me coming down the aisle, he totally cried then (and didn't cry at the first look, I thought he wouldn't cry when I came down the aisle either lol). It was so much fun and we got some wonderful pictures out of it.

We did not do one and I do not regret it at all.
A large portion of what makes the walk down the aisle so intense and dramatic is when you get to lay eyes on each other for the first time.  Without that sweet anticipation, the walk down the aisle would seem so ordinary and mundane.

I get that most brides do the first look as a compromise for the sake of picture timing, but way too many brides put the convenience of pictures above the memories.  The moment of seeing him for the first time and seeing the look on his face when he saw me are priceless memories and I wouldn't trade them for all the pictures in the world.

We did one and I am glad that we did. I don't know how we would have gotten all our photos in after the ceremony and then still had time to go to our cocktail hour. The first look itself wasn't all I wanted (though I think that had a lot to do with the photographer being mediocre). But I loved doing pictures beforehand- it was very calming for me.

We didn't and I don't regret it. I had dreamed of that moment of walking down the aisle to see my DH since I was a little girl and it was perfect :)

We're not planning on doing a FL. FI and I are highly anticipating the moment we first see each other down the aisle. :) Pictures together can wait after the ceremony. We're gonna do all the wedding party pictures first, and then release the wedding party for cocktail hour while FI and I take our pictures together. We could care less if we miss cocktail hour. We have the entire reception to mingle with guests.

Hi!  We're getting married in Chicago in April.  I was just over here looking for something and thought I'd chime in.

We can't decide whether we will do one or not.  I would like to, b/c I feel like otherwise I'm going to be an emotional ball of nerves walking down the aisle.  To me, the "moment" is seeing FI the first time that day, not necessarily in front of everyone.  But, he's more traditional than me, and I don't want him to regret it.  So, we'll wait and decide a little closer to the wedding.

For those of you already married, was this an easy/quick decision for you?  I'm almost wondering since we're on the fence as a team, if that's a sign we should skip it.

This was an easy decision for me. We did a first look.

First of all, the memory of us seeing each other for the first time was not diminished because I wasn't walking down an aisle. We were with our wedding party and seeing each other was incredibly emotional.

Second, we got to spend the entire afternoon together before the wedding. Not only did we get the convenience of taking pictures ahead of time, I got to spend time with my husband that otherwise would not have happened. At the reception we were socializing the whole time and barely had any time together. I'm so glad we were able to have some moments together in a low key environment with our closest friends rather than surrounded by all our guests that were vying for our attention.

Last, the aisle walk was just as special as it would have been if we had not seen each other. We still only had eyes for each other.

We are doing one as we want to be able to enjoy our cocktail hour with our guests and will have the pictures done before the ceremony.  We have a lot of OOT guests and I never like traveling far and never seeing the bride & groom because they are off taking pictures.  We are doing the door pictures where we grab each other's hands and then we are doing the FL in a park below our hotel.

We are doing a first look. We're getting married in the evening and I didn't want to miss the opportunity to do pictures during the day and outside (hopefully), and I think it will be a nice and calming experience. It will still be a special time to see each other for the first time in our wedding outfits, and I love that we'll capture our expressions from that moment in pictures. Plus it will be nice to be able to spend time together as I know the day will go by quickly. I think even if our wedding were earlier though, I would still like to do the first look photos.
