Outdoor Reception site in Chicago

Hello! We just got recently engaged and we are trying to figure out either to have a destination wedding or have it here in Chicago, IL.  If we do have it here in Chicago we are looking for an outdoor reception.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thank you

This is an international board. Try re-posting this on the local Chicago board. Look to the left in the blue boxes and click local wedding boards. Good luck.

Both the Brookfield and Lincoln Park zoos, Botanical Garden, the Morton Arboretum, and Cantigny all  have outdoor receptions.

I too live in Chicago, and I am getting married this September. I think most of the time you won't be able to find a place where the entire reception can be held outside, but there are a lot of places that have outside areas.  I know Salvatore's in lincoln park has their own back patio for cocktail hours and such.  I worked a wedding at the Nature Museum where the ceremony was outside on the first floor, the dinner was on the second floor outside, and then the bars and the dance floor were just inside. The Wit Hotel supposedly has a very nice outdoor rooftop for weddings. I don't know when you're having it so I don't know if weather is an issue.  However, River East Arts Center is really nice space.  Floor to ceiling windows of Chicago and the river, and then there is a second floor balcony that over looks the river.  Then there is also Fulton's on the River.  I'm sorry I work in catering/private dining and I've seen many spaces, but these are my suggestions.

There are a ton of outdoor reception locations in Chicago. The Chicago Park District has over 1000 locations including parks, community venues and don't forget.. BEACHES!. Check out their website! However, it can sometimes be difficult and frustrating to get a permit for a Park District location. The Chicago History Museum also has a wonderful venue for weddings but has beautiful french doors that open to the outside.

I am actually having an outdoor reception in Chicago, my reception site is Galleria Marchetti.  They have a beautiful tent in the back of the restaurant that connects to the east courtyard.  I looked for months to find an outdoor place in the city.  All the city venues that everyone else listed, night the nature museum or the beaches all have too many restrictions and are not really worth the price.  Galleria Marchetti is moderately pricey (I am basing this on 2 different friends weddings), but they really do work with you.  Everyone I have talked to that has worked with or been to a wedding at Galleria Marchetti said it was amazing.

Here is the link to their site, for you to check out.  I can honestly say the pictures do not lie.

I hope that helps you out.

Does anyone know someone who has worked with Chicago Botanic gardens for a wedding?
