Hi ladies,
I'm not sure if any of you have heard of the "No-Chip Manicure" but it is A-MA-ZING! I've been getting the no-chip for over a year now and absolutely LOVE it.
Here's what it is...I'm sure you've been to the "discount" nail salons and have asked for "gel" nails - and in those "discount" places, they give you "powder gel" - which anyone who has been trained as a nail technician will tell you, is acrylic. They simply put it on your nails, on top of the tips and then they put the gel overlay on and put your nails underneath the blue light. So, your end result is acrylic nails with a gel overlay.
The no-chip is NOTHING like that; first of all, the gels they use are colored, so it's essential gel nail-polish. They show you all of the color options, but also have the option of the french manicure. They rough up your nail a TINY bit, and they use nail files, not wood working drills! they trim your cuticles, buff your nails, you go wash your nails and they start the gels. They put a clear gel on your nails (well, they did for me because I got the french tonight and no tips, just my own nals) and then you put your nails under the blue light to harden it. They do that twice. Then she does the white tip, you go under the light and then one final coat of clear and viola! you're DONE. You can immediately touch your nails and it will not come off. You can just about do anything and it will not come off.
This will easily last for 4 weeks. Granted, you'll have outgrowth but it will not chip. Your nails will look amazing! I went four weeks ago, and had a nice, fall red color done and though I had a ridiculous amount of outgrowth, my nails still looked awesome. No chips, nothing.
Like I said, I've been doing ths for overa year now; its fairly new to Chcago, but when I was living in Australia, they'd been doing it for 10 years, so I was still able to keep it up! there are a few salons doing this, but I went to Sanctuary Nails on Wells, just about a block south of North Avenue. I went to Shawna and Jessica and they're both super sweet and great at their job.
Here's a pic...
