Help!!!! MY WEDDING DRESS WAS RUINED IN A FIRE!!

To all fellow brides!

Help!

My dress was involved in a house fire, and due to the smoke the dress is damaged and no amount of cleaning can repair it. I have until the end of Oct to find another dress and not enough time to order a new one. My thought is finding a talented seamstress that can help me recreate the dress.

If any one out there has any suggestions or raved reviews that they can pass on i would be so appreciative! Any where in the chicago land area would be great, northwest suburbs preferred but im willing to go anywhere!

thank you for any help!!

oh no!! I'm so sorry!! Have you tried buying off the rack? I know Davids will sell their dresses from the stores and you might be able to get something rushed to you as well.

My seamstress was Mary Catomy but she books up so far in advance for just alterations that I doubt she would be available to make a dress from scratch before October.

    Good luck!!

My seamstress, Mary Burlingame may be of help.  I know she helped one of the brides from Eva's when there was the fire.  She was amazing and worked pretty quickly.  I also recommend where I went for my dress.  Bonnie also helped a bride or two from that situation.

Also, Priscilla of Boston in Oak Brook is closing and selling their dresses.

    Good luck!

What did your dress look like? Perhaps you can find a used dress and have it altered or reshaped to fit your vision?

Whatever you do, avoid Vicki Nelson of Vicki's bridal. I am sorry about your dress and good luck.

Yikes, I'm so sorry!! How terrible, hopefully some of the suggestions here will be helpful.

Like pp said, what was the style/look of your dress?  Maybe we can help find an off-the-rack replacement?

I do not have Mary's card but I was able to look her up on Angie's List.

Again, I reccomend the bridal boutique of naperville also.  It might be a better option for you.  I can only imagine how stressed and upset you are.  Bonnie, who runs/owns the bridal boutique of naperville is the sole person at the location.  It is an incredibly small and intimate experience that may help you feel more comfortable and less pressured especially compared to going to DB or an Eva's.  I just can't  say enough good things about Bonnie and my experience with her at her boutique.

Mary is also amazing.  My dress in the photo was originally a size 14 and strapless.  Also, after Bonnie allowed me to pull whatever dresses I wanted, she suggested the dress I ended up chosing.  They are both just amazing at what they do and do it because they love what they do.

I would suggest Priscilla of Boston on Oak Brook.  They are closing so the dresses are on super sale.
