how to involve my niece?!?!

Long story short (I hope).. I have an older sister that I am not very close with.  She is an extremely destructive person with all sorts of issues so I have distanced myself from her over the years.  I was a flower girl at her first wedding and her maid of honor at her second wedding (It has been about 10 years since the second wedding so the falling out was after). However, I still keep in contact with my niece and nephew.  I was planning on having my nephew be the ringbearer but I'm not sure what to have my niece do.  She is 17 and I have my bridesmaids already.. how else can I have her involved in the wedding.  My mind is blank.. Any ideas?

Have her do a reading, light altar candles, pass out bubbles afterwards, hand out programs at the beginning, be an usherette, etc.

agree with PP, have her do the guestbook or programs or a reading. She will feel special you're involving her!

How about including her in the "getting ready" time before the wedding?  She might like getting her hair/makeup done with you and your bridesmaids.  :)

I like the getting ready idea too. FI and I have too many nieces and nephews to be able to include any children in the ceremony so I'm having my nieces come in while I'm getting ready and also hang out with me in the brides room of the church. They're younger though so the girly stuff is a little more exciting. I like the reading idea better then programs or guestbook though, that might be kind of boring to do by herself

My 17 year old Goddaughter will be my lady in waiting. She will help me get ready and be my eyes, ears and mouth. She is also going to do a reading at the ceremony.
And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image
