Help! Hotel Room Blocks In The City??

Hi Ladies!

I am looking for block of about 20 rooms for my wedding in October of 2011. I was hoping to get something close to Michigan Ave. so my guests will be close to  all of the action but can't find anything that is under $200! Does any one have any recommendations?

Thank you!!

Hyatt Regency Michigan Ave, and the Sheraton on the river were both under 200.  Around 140 I believe!

And I'm not sure where you have been calling.....but the only one I called that was over 200 was the comfort suites.  Even the W, where we are staying, did the block at $199 for a summer saturday in 2011.

try the holiday inn at the merchandise mart.  i know holiday inns may sound cheesey but this one was recently remodeled.  i stayed there over this past christmas and we were able to walk to michigan ave and we had a beautiful view of the city from our room.

I would highly recommend Hotelplanner.com - you put out your request to bid from local Chicago hotels to meet your price.

I was able to re-negotiate my hotel block rate using their quotes as leverage.

My friend did a hotel block through Club Quarters. You need to be a member but if you are an alumni of a big school then you should be good (I am an alumni of U of I and that works and she was an alumbi of Indiana which worked). And only the person setting up the block has to be a member. The rooms are small and don't include breakfast but for like $60 a night we didn't care.

Avancina-  My wedding is October 2011 too and I'm starting my hotel research as well.  If your wedding is scheduled for the 7th-9th of October make sure you book hotel rooms ASAP!! That is the weekend of the Chicago Marathon and all hotels get booked WAY in advance. Other weekends should be fine. Good luck and let me know what you find!

We used the Millenium Knickerbocker which I loved because it was so beautiful and unique looking. We worked first with Ann, then Kelly and had a hotel block of 20 rooms (on labor day weekend, no less) at $140, I believe. The rooms were very nice and I think usually go for quite a bit more, so I'm pretty sure we got a good deal. It is on Walton, right across from the Drake, just off Michigan Ave.

We knew someone but were able to book the Marriott Mag MIle for $149/night...on Memorial Day weekend too!  Try them
