Marriage License - New format?

FI and I went to the Cook County clerk's office this morning to get our marriage license. I was looking at it and there is no place for the bride and groom signatures or a witness signature. My MOH got married in May and hers had all of those things. It is super weird. . . . but I guess that is the new format? Anyone else get theirs in the last month or so and see this?

I don't think our license itself has the signatures....just the application for the marriage license.

Although now I should check when I get home!

Ours did not have the signatures either.  We just got married this month, and we got our license about a week before, so I remember this.  I even asked the person at the county office, who was very nice, and she said that its not on there.

Ours didn't have signature spots for B&G or witnesses either and I got very nervous. My MOH got married in a different state and I had to sign hers. After the ceremony, we were in the back of the church and I was frantically asking if we had to sign something and our church said no. I guess it was all fine bc we got our certificate in the mail a few weeks later!

Ours didn't have them either.  I'm not sure but I feel like it could have more to do with which office you get the license from.  I know my SILs looked more like a framed certificate where ours was just printed from the computer at the office downtown with no place for signatures.

Not really sure though but I do know I was wondering the same thing recently.

Interesting to hear all your stories. I guess it just is what it is. I'm kind of glad we don't have to worry about signing it that day. Our officiant can just sign it and send it in without fussing to have us do it then. yay! 31 days :)

When we went to DuPage in August, they told us that the witnesses did not need to sign the sheet (even though there were lines for them), only the officiant.

In Cook County only the officiant needs to sign the license.  I thought it was weird too.  And what's the application for the license?  We didn't have to do that.

Same, the officiant signature it is enough, i got married also in Cook County in July, 2011 and witnesses not required. But i think it is ok.
