DJ recs for southwest burbs

I left my darling fiance in charge of the DJ thing, since he knows someone who is a DJ.  This person has proved to me that he is unreliable so i'm taking matters into my own hands and finding us a new DJ.

Anyone have any recs that aren't through the roof?  It was nice to have the opportunity to get someone at a discount, but it kinda goes with the "you get what you pay for" mentality, and I just dont want to deal with it.

TIA!

Toast and Jam...they aren't cheesy in any way. $1295 for 6 hours is what we have them for. We know they dance floor will be packed with them!

We are using Answer Back Entertainment for our wedding. Tim is the own and Dj and has been great so far. We have seen them at another reception and we're very impressed. They have a great setup and they are, in my opinion very reasonable.
There packages start around $700. We did get a free upgrade because we we're referred. His website is http://www.abdjs.com/ The have a few video cilps online to. This is the one they showed me....http://www.midwestvideoproductions.com/answer_back_entertainment.htm They are out of Mokena, Illinois. Hope this helps.

Another bride for Toast & Jam!  Other popular DJs are Style Matters, Fig Media, and Cage & Aquarium.  I think these are the more "hip" DJs.

I highly recommend Fantastic DJs.  We used them 11 years ago for my brothers baptism, and I'm using them again for our wedding.  They are fantastic (HA!) but really they are, great equipment, experienced djs and they really know their stuff.  Depending on how many people are expected to be at the wedding, they have different packages (with different sound equipment).  Since we are inviting 350, we had to have the bigger package and its around 2000.

We had a great experience with Admit 1 DJ's.  The owner, Greg, was our DJ and he did an amazing job our guests are still talking about it!

When it comes to DJ's I think the customer service aspect of it is the most important aspect. They all use good equipment, but if you can't reach them when you have questions what good is the equipment going to do you?

I highly recommend Music by Design. They have an awesome interactive website where you can choose all of your songs (if you want to, and they will through in good one's too)  and plan your entire event.

They get wonderful reviews about keeping the dance floor packed and above all the customer service rocks. David called me about 5 times during the planning process just to see if I had questions. When I needed help picking some songs for the BP I asked for a meeting and he got together with me and went over everything a week before the wedding and helped me pick some songs.

Music was VERY important to me (it sets the mood for any party) for the wedding and all the guests RAVED about my music. I chose all the songs for the actual wedding and he helped with the rest.  Everything went off without a hitch.

Sounds Abound - Naperville! Tony Ho is booked for our wedding. My best friend had him this past summer, and we immediately booked him for ours! He did a phenomenal job, and their pricing is totally affordable!

We are going with XL Entertianment- Big Don.  I saw him reccomended a few times here on the Knot, so I gave him a call.

Hes been super attentive to emails, and questions etc.  He is doing the whole reception, for $800, which was a really great deal.

He is very open to suggestion as far as music goes.  He also seems to have a great personality.  Something to think about.

For us...I couldnt fathom spending over $1200 on a DJ (or $2000 for a photog for that matter haha)

He is out of NW indiana and says he does weddings on the SW Suburbs all the time  (Or reception is in Orland Park)
