New to IL, thinking of having wedding here HELP!

Hello Knotties!
I am brand new to Illinois and the Chicago area and am looking for some wedding help. My fiance and I think it would be easiest to have our wedding here in Chicago. All of our guests would be out of towners so I really want to make it easy for them to get to places and have a few things lined up for them to do as it would be a "destination" wedding for them. I am contemplating August or October next year and have looked mostly at Cafe Brauer. Again I am not too saavy with places and things here yet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much :-)

Try having it somewhere that would allow ceremony and reception at the same place, so as to not to confuse all of the out of town guests! Welcome to Chicago and Happy planning :)

    Welcome!

Have you set up your budget and guestlist?  H and I considered getting married in Chicago for about a week until we realized how expensive it would be for us and some of the things we just weren't willing to sacrifice (mainly our date).  That's not to say it can't be done; but I also know that things, especially affordable venues, book quickly!

Have you talked with Cafe Brauer to see if they have dates open?  One of the hardest things is the venue!

Also if the majority of your guests will be OOT, take into consideration how they'll get around and where they would stay that would be affordable.

Also, look at the city's calendar of events.  Definitely try to avoid weekends with big events like the marathon because it will up drive up hotel costs and make things a bit more hectic!
