Chicago Knottie bakery favorite(s)?

Anybody that is known over here on the boards from real experience?

Brother is getting married and I am helping them find a cake and have not a clue where to start

They are getting married in Grayslake so I have emailed Lovin Oven Bakery and am familiar with Oak Mill.

Any faves that are rec'd over in these parts?

I have had cakes from both bakeries.  Lovin' Oven is simply deliciousness and has good customer service.  I wanted to place a large order for specialty cookies in the shape of a high heeled shoe.  They were happy to complete the order but were honest in telling me that the shoe is very delicate and tends to break at the heel with even the most subtle movements.  I appreciated their honestly and had them make different cookies.  I have had cakes there as well and they are fabulous!

The only cake I have had from Oak Mill was a specialty cake with fondant.  The cake itself was delicious but too much fondant made the cake way too sweet.

If your brother is marrying in Grayslake it might make more sense to keep the bakery "local".

Our wedding cake was from Central Continental Bakery in Mt. Prospect and it was delicious as well.

I am not a fan of Oak Mill-their stuff is way too sweet, and just always seems a little too European for me.  I like more American style cakes.

I have heard great things about Lovin Oven in Grayslake.

We used Cakes by Dea out of Marengo-her cakes are phenomenal, but I don't know if she'd deliver to Grayslake.  The chocolate cake with cookies and creme filling is to die for!
