Help!! We need a caterer!

Hi all!!

My fiance and I are getting married downtown on New Year's Eve this year.  We're having our ceremony & reception at the same location from 7pm-1am, but the venue does not serve food and therefore we need a caterer.

With it being NYE, as well as the type of reception we're having, we never intended to have a sit down meal, but would rather have lots of snacky options for our guests to choose from (mashed potato bar, mini burgers,etc...)  We looked at one caterer who seems to have what we're looking for, but the cost is 7500!!  (Half food, half service staff)  That's more than our venue, photog, dj, & attire combined!!

Can any of you recommend a caterer or food vendor that we could possible work with?  (I forgot to mention that we're not overly fancy & just want our guests and ourselves to have a good time!)

Thanks!!!!

You could try FIG catering or J&L catering

I second FIG - they're wonderful and would likely have something to fit your style.

How many people are you having? Our caterer is definitely the biggest portion of our budget (more than the combined elements you mentioned) since the service and table rentals come from them as well.

We're only having 75-100 people max.  It's the service staff that's killing us I think.

If the staff part is killing you, have the caterer deliver it and then hire your own servers/cleaners/waiters. Thats what we are doing AND we went to a wedding last night where the bride hired girls on cragislist and they worked so great (they didnt get paid till the end of the night) She had them wear black pants and a white shirt and then purchased nice aprons in a matching color to the wedding. Those girls kept the tables clean and served drinks and kept the food area stocked... The bride rented the chaffing dishes.

Having a wedding on NYE usually has you paying sometimes up to double the rate as a normal Saturday night wedding.  My wedding was on NYE and most of my vendors charged a premium holiday rate just because no one wants to work on that day.

I would reach out to D'Absolute Catering, they provided service and bar staff for my NYE wedding, but was outsourced by my original caterer, Bonsoiree who provided the food.  From the reviews on Yelp, they seem fairly reasonable from a catering perspective.
