Shoot the Bride.... Did you get your video?

When was your wedding date and when did you get your video & highlight footage ?

Our wedding was in the spring and we have nothing.  I am getting very upset and he said he would give us a highlight footage by mid Sept.  Nothing still.

I really don’t want to complain about his professionalism or quality of work because that has seem great (even though it wasn’t ours).  The thing is he has horrible communication skills.  If he is that busy he should hire a helper to respond to clients and prospect clients.   Gosh I think many people here are willing to help him get organized to help him grow his company but with track he is going down its going to be hard to repair.  I wanted to recommend him to other friends who got married this year but couldn’t because I haven’t got anything yet from him.

One reason we selected our videographer was the fact, they put the wedding highlights up online within a week or so and have the total finished dvd in 2, to 3 weeks. You having to wait this long is wrong. This was what I had heard many times from others. So when I looked into videographers, I made sure when I would get me video.

It is so disheartening to read your post because it really is SO unfair to have to wait THIS long for even a highlight video!  It makes me nervous for our wedding, since we do have STB booked.

I assume you've tried all the routes -- phone, email, fbooking him?

I did see that he disabled the ability to comment on fbook...

Just curious ladies - does he require payment in full before the wedding?

Yes ,  we have called and left many messages for him.

It was really upsetting because we were planning to have a  a wedding viewing party last month and the video was a big part of it.   We asked him in Aug if by that date we could have the highlight video and he said shouldn’t be an issue.  Even got an email from him 2 days before the party saying he was working on it. That was the last email we got from him.  Each week we keep sending him an email asking for status and to confirm he is getting the email. Then follow up with a voice mail. Still no response.

About the payment question he wanted a small downpayment.  Then he said he would like payment on the wedding day or soon after.

Yikes...if you haven't paid him in full already, I'd be telling him he'll get the balance once you have your video!

This is disheartening news. Our wedding was 9-11-10, I was promised highlight video about 3 weeks after the wedding. Nothing yet. I really don't even care about a highlight video, I want the ceremony footage and the edited video that Shoot the Bride films is under contract with me to deliver. That is why we have contracts.
Do you think he would show up if someone didn't pay their deposit??????

    @Magicalwedding 2:
Part of being a professional is delivering product when promised in a written contract and answering e mail in a timely manner, answering phone calls in a timely mannner and keeping your word. You have every RIGHT to complain about his professionalism. He is UNPROFESIONAL.  If we conducted ourselves like this with customers in our jobs we would be fired.

Remember what he did to Ladybug who got him tons of referrals here on theknot to grow his business????

He left her hanging for months on her video. He DIDN'T RETURN ANY OF HER CALLS OR E MAILS.

We have been nice and diplomatic for a long time about him on this board. Time for action.

Perhaps it's time we brides all got together and formulate a plan to get our video from him in the form of legal action. He is in breach of contract with most of us. I just got married in September. My contract says delivery in 4-5 weeks. We are there now.

    @kthame:
In my contract it states he must be paid in full by the wedding or the Monday after the wedding. I have paid in full as have all the other brides that have used him.
The check was cashed a few days after the wedding.

Love is Bald, PLEASE seriously reconsider using him for your wedding. You have plenty of time to search out a reputable vendor for your video. The wedding goes by so fast, and all you have to remember it by is the pics and especially the video.

I would love to see our video as I am sure that Magicalwedding2 would love to see hers as well. To miss the deadline for the viewing party, it's just not cool after all this time...

If we knew this ahead of time we would have held off paying him.   But we wanted to make sure we didnt have to worrie about vendor payements on our wedding day so we paid before the wedding.

Does anyone know if he has weddings upcomning ?

Look for another vendor, the trust level at this point is gone. He has a track record of not delivering on time and not returning phone calls or emails. He has a ton of excuses. These are poor business practices.

This is now his reputation. Do you want to use someone with this reputation?

WOW Ladies, I'm so very sorry to hear this; the thing that bugs me the most is the issue of no communication. If he would at the very least respond to people, that would make a world of difference, but that isn't the case. If you DO have him hired, I certainly wouldn't pay him until he delivers on the video...

Bad press, especially on The Knot could seriously cripple his business, and I'm certain word has gotten back to him that people aren't happy (not that he'd have to hear it from others, his emails and voicemail probably do enough justice).

Good luck to all of you ladies!

What is really sad is that The Knot got him all of his referrals in the first place and launched what could have been an extremely nice business for him. Most small business owners would kill for the kind of referrals he has recieved here!!!!

He didn't start messing up until he got busy doing all the weddings and perhaps bit off more than he could chew.

I would think that if he seriously wanted to be in the wedding business that he would clean up his act and start delivering NOW, no matter what it took.

He has a lot of repair work to do at this point, and I totally agree with you in not paying before you get the video, but that puts brides into a Catch22 situation.

If they don't pay, he won't deliver the video he shot at your wedding and now you the bride are in breach of contract, and then he can withhold your precious memories.

My advice: DON'T HIRE HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE. I truely wish I hadn't.

I also used Jeff for our 9/4/10 wedding. There were periods where I had to send him multiple emails before he got back to me, but no major issues. I didn't hear from him after the wedding so a couple weeks out I emailed him and asked him what the protocol was from here on out and he told me he needed 2 songs from me which I have yet to get back to him on because I'm having a hard time deciding. So I guess i have nothing major to complain about yet but I have to say this thread does make me very nervous. I need to check my contract to see if there is a specific timeline in there as to how long he has to get the footage to me.

I had not gotten songs to him as well, but the minute I returned from our HM, I emailed him the songs and he emailed me back saying he liked the songs and to look for a highlight video by the end of the week. Didn't happen. That was on September 22nd. So tomorrow is my four week mark.

I absolutely want my video by Thanksgiving, but don't want to give him that deadline, because he misses all the deadlines. So maybe I will give him until Mid November to be kind and maybe I'll get it by TGiving.

BUT was also thinking of asking him to send me the uncut footage and I will have someone else make the edited video.

Septemberbride, my contract states he will get you your video 4-5 weeks after he gets your songs.

Wow, this is so disappointing. I'm glad I haven't sent in my deposit yet, I think I will be going elsewhere for my video.

It's such a shame, his style is so great. Some people just shouldn't run businesses, I guess ...

I haven't been on here in quite awhile. I'm very nervous after reading all of these posts. My wedding is next August and I have him booked, deposit has been sent, contract signed. Sigh….

    Hello,

Our wedding was over 18 months ago and recently rceived raw footage.  Wanted to know if anyone has a recomendation on how to get a wedding video made?   Has anyone else done this?  Any vendors you'd recommend that would take on the editing proccess only?

    Thanks!
