Unique Venues

Hey knotties -- I haven't been on here since my 07 wedding but now i'm helping my brother and sister in law plan their Aug 2011 Chicago wedding. I got married in Michigan so I have no reference point, even though I now live in the western burbs.

Does anybody have recommendations for any unique venues for about 100 people? I think they are looking for something other than a traditional banquet hall.

TIA - It's fun to think about weddings again!

Prairie Productions, A new leaf, West Loop studios.

You could also look into places like the brookfield zoo, MCA, or garfield park conservatory.

Can you narrow down the actual area in which you are looking?  City limits??  County? Suburbs--N-S-W-NW.....

Unique as in zoos, mansions, theatres, outdoor????

it sounds like their focus is the NW suburbs but all options are open for discussion.

As far as unique goes, maybe I should clarify that it doesn't have to be super-extraordinary...just fitting for a guest list of 100.

I really appreciate all of your help!

Pinstripes? There is one in South Barrington and Northbrook. We ended up going there between our wedding and reception to play bocce and take pictures, and they were AMAZING. Everyone there was wonderful and I know they also offer private rooms- but I'm not sure the size...

Off the top of my head, from far west in Harvard there is the Starline Factory, an art gallery with amazing architecture........middle NW suburbs there is the Metropolis Ballroom in Arlington Heights, eastern side of the NW suburbs is Ravinia in Highland Park or the Chicago Botanical Gardens in Glencoe.  Lake Forest has some "castle" like settings, such as the Armour House.

You might want to look at Cantigny in Wheaton. It's a gorgeous location.

We considered the Brookfield Zoo and it would have been amazingly fun!  Their F&B minimum is only $5k so for 100 guests they'd have no problem meeting it.  We ultimately decided on a DW, though.

Also, check out The Grove in Glenveiw - gorgeous setting!
