Alterations

I just ordered my gown and was wondering if anyone dared get their alterations done outside of the bridal store. They want to charge $275 plue $120 to make it a sweetheart. I live in the city and would drive anywhere for a cheaper but good quality alterationist. THX!

Mary Catomy. I'm not sure on her pricing but she is fairly priced and does great work.

Definitely worthwhile to go outside of the store. At the very least you can quote prices to them and see if they'll match (if you're more comfortable with having them do the alterations)

I believe Mary Catomy books up very quickly because of all of the recommendations on the board, so I would contact her ASAP.  I wasn't able to book her.  I am using Ms. Couture on Clybourn and I thought her prices were OK (but don't have much to compare to.)

Mary Catomy is completely booked for May, June & July, FYI. Found out yesterday in my search for an alterations specialist.

I'm using the stitch fairy - Cori out of Barrington. I really don't know her prices, but saw her referred on here and from someone else.

try lake city cleaners...they do great work! they have several locations to chose from..check them out!
