Plus Size Wedding Dresses, Help Needed

I live in Elgin, IL and I am in search of recommendations of places to go to find samples in my size for the best possible representation of what I will wear on the Big Day! I have already been to David's Bridal and House of Brides.

House of Brides is likely out of the picture due to they order based on measurement and dont have my size in samples that I like at their store.

David's is ok and I have seen some possibilities, but not the Wow Factor I'm looking for, and by all means I don't want to settle just because of limited options or not shopping around enough.

Are there any other places that sell plus size dresses aside from Davids Bridal and House of Brides?

I am willing to travel throughout the Chicagoland area to find my perfect dress. Please help. All suggestions welcome. Thanks

I was going to try Catherine Simms Bridal in Aurora before I found a dress. I called and they said they had plus size samples but you might want to check again.

Try the bridal sampler in West Dundee, I went there and they had tons of dresses to try on all around $1000 and they were really accomodating

I visited 6 salons in two days recently so here is my breakdown for you:

Kashia's Bridal in Chicago - I loved it there BUT be warned, the shop is not very pretty but they had a very large number to try on.

Eva's Bridal in Orland (not affiliated with the one in Oak Lawn) had a ton of plus size wedding dresses.  I believe I tried on 10 but she could easily have brought more in.

Here Comes the Bride in Addison - ABSOLUTELY LOVED THEM.  The store is in a really sketchy strip mall but do not let that fool you.  Diane was fabulous and super nice.  They had a large selection of Mori Lee gowns in plus sizes while I was there.

Catherine Simms - I was NOT a fan.

    David's - the usual

HOB - price matched everything I had seen and wanted but didn't have anything larger than a 16 to try on.  So that was disappointing.

Eva's Bridal of Oak Lawn - Had NUMEROUS plus size gowns but you aren't allowed to take photos and they are pushy.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks Ladies!
  • Are there any ladies out there that have recently shopped???  I see these are primarily old posts and I am REALLY struggling to find dresses to try on.  I LOVE lace and it seems everything in plus is a lot of satin.  I've been to David's and HOB (yuck) and I wanted to cry.  David's was okay, but HOB just was icky.  I'm thinking that I'm just going to have to see one on the hanger and order my size :o(

I'm a street size 22 and very busty so it makes for quite a challenge!
