Hey guys, 

I haven't posted on this board yet, so just wanted to introduce myself. I feel like some of the other boards are really clique-y and it's hard to make friends there (IMHO). Anyhoo, my name is Abi and my FI and I are getting married July 20 in Richmond, VA. Anyone else have that date?? How are the plans coming?

I have that date!!! I've heard of a lot of other people with that date too, which is strange since its a Friday. But Im so excited- 193 days!

I have lots of plans done, but I recently got done with a school break so I was able to complete a lot then. How about you? How are your plans?

My plans are going great! I have almost everything done. I pretty much just need to firm up a florist. Other than that,  I'm in good shape! I did a lot of planning over the summer and over my winter break (I am also in school). What are you in school for?

I can't believe we have only 193 days...eek!

Im in school at Michigan State; I'll graduate in May with a degree in communications and public relations. Where are you/What are you studying?

Way to go with having everything done!!

I'm pretty much down to little things like deciding on centerpieces, and then starting my DIY projects- Ill be using them as study breaks throughout the semester.  

How long have you been engaged?

I'm graduating in May with my masters in teaching as well as my bachelors in elementary ed. I go to VCU. You may have heard about us making it to the final four last spring. I don't really follow basketball, but it was pretty exciting. 

We got engaged last July, so we will have been engaged a little over a year when we get married. How about you? 

What are you DIYing for your wedding? I wish I was crafty!

Hey! I'm from richmond but I currently in live md. Hopefully, I will move back within the next year. I agree they other boards can be a like clicky. I love this board.

Hi!! Sounds like you got a lot done! I did most of the planning over the summer too before I had to go back to work (a teacher here). Tell us your story- when did you get engaged? Why July 20th?

We've been getting a lot of new July brides here and I'm excited about that!!

Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies. Yay for July 20th!

We got engaged July 10, 2011. We chose July 20th because I had my heart set on the venue and there were no Saturdays left (except Aug 25th, which wouldn't have worked because school starts the next week and that week is a planning week for teachers).

mekia...I am a teacher in training! I'm actually starting student teaching next week! Hopefully I'll find a job for next school year. The economy hasn't been so nice to teachers around these parts, unfortunately. What do you teach?

We have the movie UP as a large part of our story, so there will be a table commemorating that; with balloons, a mailbox painted like theirs for cards, an adventure book, and other paraphernalia we've collected.  So you dont need to be crafty for DIY; just make little personal touches. </div>

</div><div>VERY cute idea! I am having a brain fart on how to personalize the wedding. The only thing I've got so far that is somewhat personal is a dessert table (I have a huge sweet tooth). That about it. But dessert tables are kinda a dime a dozen. Maybe I will look to Pinterest for inspiration. </div>

Welcome to the July 2012 board.  Our wedding is July 21st.  The 20th happens to be my 30th birthday though!  I love the Up idea for you wedding.  That was such a cute movie and I loved the love story incorporated into it!

Welcome Abi!  I too find the other boards easy to criticize and jump on people.  There are so much better ways I think answer could be phrased.  I think the ladies here have been very positive and supportive!

I have a venue, caterer (comes with venue), wedding coordinator (comes with venue), 1st draft of the ceremony script, photographer, dress, lodging.

Currently working on cake research, invitations, alterations research for my dress.

I have yet to reserach flowers, do any DIY projects, an outfit for FI, ring for FI.

It definately was not the wedding dress experience I had built up in my mind (thanks, SYTTD), but I know I got the dress for me. It also helped to set the tone for the rest of the wedding. It's a very vintage-y looking dress, so the invites etc will also have that feel. Also, the colors on the beading determined the colors. And because this is TK, I had to give them fancy names: pearl, pewter, platinum, pistachio, and blush. :-)</div><div>

OMG! My FI and I got engaged July 10 too!! But we got engaged July 10, 2010, but it is still awesome!

welcome!!!! i didn't get engaged until november 21, 2011 and despite being a late joiner, i didn't find the board to be cliquey AT ALL - i hope you have the same experience

i am about a week after you - july 28

and i LOVE your colors (and the special names you gave to them!) they sound so gorgeous. do you have swatches of what they all look like together?? i would love to see!
