What's your borrowed/blue/old/new?

Are you/did you follow this old tradition?  What are/were your "somethings"?

    I kind of followed it..

    new: my dress/accessories

blue: Cub's garter and "I Do" on my shoes

I'm not doing the something old/something new/something borrowed/ something blue. We actually aren't doing a lot of the traditonal stuff. My mom can't understand why but it's just not our thing.

This is a tradition that I'd like to do, but I haven't really thought about it much yet. I should probably get on that.

You're supposed to get your old and borrowed things from women who have had good marriages, right? I heard that somewhere. . .
No one has offered me anything and I can't think of anything off the top of my head from my grandmother or FI's mother that I'd like to borrow.

New could be my dress, shoes, and jewelry.
Blue is my engagement ring (sapphire center stone).

I'm still trying to work some of this out.

Old/Borrowed: Not sure. My mom lost a lot of stuff in a fire recently, so I'm thinking about checking with FI's parents.

    New: Pretty much everything

Blue: I'm going to cross stitch our monogram in blue and sew in to the lining of my dress.

Did anyone do a sixpence in their shoe?

I did parts but not everything:
    • New was my handkerchief that my mom brought back from Italy
    • Old was my grandpa's prayer book from when he was in the service during WWII (I carried it in my pocket)
    • Blue was a tie for my bustle and my clutch
    • nothing borrowed though!

Gosh, sorry to hear about your mom!  I love the item of the blue stitching in the dress.  I wish I'd done it!

Old: The necklace that my mom, grandmother and great grandmother wore when they got married
    New: My veil
Borrowed: DH's grandfathers wedding band was used for our ceremony since the ring I chose wasn't kosher
Blue: My mom's engagement ring (which is aquamarine)

I was wearing 4 rings at the end of the ceremony since we used DH's grandfathers and mine for the ceremony and I was already wearing my ering and my moms ering.

Old: My veil (I'm having it made from a piece of lace that my grandmother gave me as a Christmas gift about 15 years ago...random).

    New: Earrings/bracelet

Borrowed: Not sure yet.  Possibly hair pins that my FSIL loaned me...

Blue:  Not sure yet.  I wanted blue shoes, but the shoes I bought only came in white, boo.

I had seen pictures of embroidered monogram labels and thought they were cute. I wanted to make it a little more personal, so I decided to cross-stitch it myself!

My sister actually gave me a really great idea of cross-stitching our monogram on a larger piece of cloth and framing it. I'm not sure I'll be able to do this before the wedding, but it's definitely a future project for me.
