Honeymoon registry?

I need help! My fiance and I live together already, so we have most of everything we need that many people put on their registry. We thought it would be a good idea to have a honeymoon registry. We did register for the friends/family who feel it is a must to give us something. I wanted to do a honeymoon registry because we would love to go on an amazing honeymoon without having to put it on a credit card. Has anyone else done this? If so, what are your opinions? Should we go through a honeymoon registry site, travel agent, or honeymoon company? Ahhh I need help! hahaha Thanks everyone!

we didn't register for our's but maybe it would be a good idea so that you don't get random gift cards from people? ha ha! i'm sure there are some knoties on here that have and can give good advice, try the national board too maybe!

We are using honeyfund, and it has been great so far!  You can link it toy our paypal so people can pay using there credit/debit cards online or they can simply "pledge" a gift and print out a certificate stating what excursion they purchased for you and include it with the card and money.  It is a free site, but we paid the $39 to upgrade it to a "premium" honeyfund site with a pretty background and pictures, etc.

I don't think it is such a great idea, but that is my opinion. I think it looks gift grabby and needy. Plan and take the HM you can afford even if it means postponing it for a bit.

Also, I wouldn't think about posting this on the E board unless you want to get flamed. Just a heads up.

We are using thehoneymoon.com.  So far it has been very easy to use and all of my shower guests so far have loved it.  We too didn't need many household items so this is working out great for us.  We booked our honeymoon through Bliss Honeymoons and this is the website that they use for their clients.

We didn't do one, but one our friends did when he got married a couple years ago.  We gfted them an excursion and a dinner for two on their Alaskan cruise. They set up a website with different categories (train ride for two, dinner for two, etc.) and you could purchase an item or experience off the honeymoon registry website. It was a nice option to have in addition to a "regular" registry.

We thought about it because we live together, have (nearly) everything we need/want, and we tend to buy things right when we need it.  Then we realized we could upgrade a lot of our home items by registering and decided against the honeymoon registry.  We're still pretty annoyed that Lowe's and Home Depot don't have user-friendly registries since we're doing a lot of home renovations, but whatever works.  Praying that maybe one of the two will pull a Container Store and start a traditional registry soon. <crossing fingers>

I'm not against the honeymoon registry concept, but I get how many guests don't prefer to use it.  I think over time etiquette will change and it will become more widely accepted.  I've bought items from a honeymoon registry before and I'm glad I did because I knew the couple would use/enjoy it.

we have a friend who is getting married on Black Friday and they are in the same situation, heather!  They live together, actually both owned their own homes before so they are now combining into one and they don't need a thing!  They're doing the HM Registry and FH and I are excited to contribute to their Honeymoon!  I say go for it!

My fiance and I have lived together for 6+ years. Since we already have a house full of everything we want/need , we decided to do a charity registry instead. We selected 3 charities and set up an account on the I Do Foundation website. This company does honeymoon and gift registries as well.

I have heard girls say this again and again, but I seriously just don't understand.  How is it more gift grabby than asking for an actual gift?  I am not trying to be sarcastic or rude...I just really don't get it.

We can afford our honeymoon, but we simply do not have much that we wanted/needed on a traditional registry.  Basically everything was bought new when I purchased my house two years ago so it does not really need replaced or upgraded.  FH's brother recently got married, and everyone <span style="font-style:italic;">loved </span>the idea of a HM registry so we decided to do it to.

One of the negative things I've heard, is that some of the sites keep a percent of the money. (The cost for using the site.)

thanks everyone! We put together a registry obvious for those that feel it is tacky to ask to help for our honeymoon. Honestly the only way we are going to be able to have enough stuff on a "traditional" registry is if we register at like 4 different places and that looks more tacky than if I register at  one or two stores and then the honeymoon, but whatever we all have our own opinions. Anything we need for our home is on the expensive side, such as new furniture (we got the FH grandparents home along with all of their stuff so old '70's couches hahaha) we do not need toasters and stuff like that hahaah and since I sell Pampered Chef I already have nice kitchen gear. Any who I could care less if anyone thinks it looks "gift grabby." I would rather have an awesome memory of my honeymoon versus a whole bunch of crap I do not need/want. Thanks for the suggestions on the registry places. I am going to try and stay clear of the websites that charge a service fee.

We used www.HoneyLuna.com   and were thrilled with the site.  It's beautiful, easy for our friends to use and our friends and family LOVED IT!  They all agreed that it was better giving us a fun, romantic or experiential gift on our honeymoon than something we didnt need that would just end up in a closet or being returned.  We too lived together and had everything for our house -- we just did not want or need more STUFF.  In no way were we being "grabby".  In fact, when we initially did not register anywhere our friends were outraged - they all said "but we have to get you something."  We took pictures of all the activities our friends bought for us and sent them in our thank you notes.  That way that saw that we enjoyed our gifts and now have a memento of us enjoying their wedding gift.  As for the service fee - I don't get why people are so hung up on that.  We paid everyone else involved in our wedding for their service - the photographer, the minister, the reception venue, the caterer... This was another great service that made our lives easier, got us wonderful wedding gifts and our friends were happy.  Totally worth it.  And btw, do you not think there is a fee at a department store?  The registry may be free but the gifts are marked up 40-50% -- so the 7% we paid with HoneyLuna was a real bargain.  (Actually, we chose the option where our friends covered that fee - and they didn't mind as they didn't even have to leave their house to buy the gifts and knew we wouldn't be returning it!)  So use www.honeyluna.com and go have the honeymoon of your dreams!  Enjoy!!

I don't think it looks 'grabby' at all! We're planning a honeymoon 'we can afford' but are putting the excursions and dinners and stuff that we wouldn't normally do (bc I'm cheap lol) on the registry. We live together and I've owned a home for 5 years. We don't need anything. We are doing a small registry at a traditional store for some upgraded items (I would like some new towels ha!) and people that want to go that route but I don't see how a honeymoon registry is anything different then people giving you cash. This way at least they feel like they're giving you something. I say go for it and nevermind the busybodies

We used Honeymoon Pixie. It's got lower fees than the other registries (except the free ones that put advertising on your page!) I would recommend being able to pay for the honeymoon essentials - like airfare and such - nda then just registering for extras. Our guests seemed to really love being able to get us things like a nice bottle of wine or a special dinner out!

We used  http://www.wanderable.com/pages/honeymoon_registry - it's free, pretty and has no ads! Highly recommend a honeymoon registry. My sister used it and it worked out well! - I think they're also on fb and twitter if you want to have a look...
