I really have no idea on how to go about choosing our officiant.  Any advice?  We are getting married in Joliet and are looking for someone who will do a non-denominational ceremony.  We are looking for someone who adds humor to the ceremony and keeps it nice and sweet.  Any suggestions ladies?  TIA

    I would recommend Jim Rehnberg (Rent a Rev) - he did our ceremony and did a very good job.  You can get a good idea of his style in our feature film as his voiceover is edited throughout.

    Does IL allow you to get a friend ordained and do the ceremony? My aunts did that in CA and it was really cool.

    alpha- can you tell me how much you paid if you dont mind?... I love that you did a wine ceremony!! FI and I plan on doing that as well!!!

    loveisbald- yes i did get the list from the mansion and we have been talking to judge cerri but I still wanted to check out a few other people to make sure I was confident in the decision :)

    Hi Sparkle,
    We paid 800.00 Everyone LOVED the wine ceremony, it was very special as my friend sang during it and presentation of roses to the mothers. I would use him over a judge who won't care about staging for photographs and video. The day goes by so fast that you want good pics in the end and Tom is very aware of making memories of your day and makes sure good photo ops are available at every step of the ceremony.

    All of his pricing is on his website which is VERY extensive.

    He met with us at our home, he traveled, for 1.5 hours to plan our ceremony.

    He coached us during our rehersal at our venue for 1.5 hours then came the next day one hour early to our site and reviewed everything with us just before the ceremony started.

    He had humor and grace and he has an extensive website explaining everything he does and all of your options in detail. He really goes the extra mile for his couples.

    He's done 2200 weddings in Chicago and has tons of pics from every venue he's worked at I bet there are pics at your venue.

    PS: If you do end up using him tell him steph and steve referred you. I don't get anything at all for the referral, but I want him to know I was that happy with him.

    Here's some more pics: Notice how he is not in any of the pics, but our sons are seen in the background? He steps away into the middle of the isle so the whole focus is on you and all the pics are just of you and your bridal party.

    Thank you so much alpha! I looked into his whole site last night and he is def in our top contenders.. but I don't think i've found anyone that can really compete!  I already shot him an email and when we set up a meeting I will let him know you raved about your ceremony.  Thanks again :)
