Modesty Panel

I want to be modest for our wedding and am having trouble finding a dress that doesn't expose myself too much. Would it look really stupid to get a v-neck dress and have a modesty panel put in without it looking too stupid? (like on that goes above any cleavage I have)

I think that it will be fine as long as you choose the right fabric and the right tailor.  If they do a good job it won't even look like an addition to the original dress.

My culture and family wouldn't have been okay with any revealing or modern dress. I ended up getting mine custom made through a south asian wedding vendor. What they can do with traditional white dresses is sometimes take fabric from the train and sew a panel and shoulders/arms.

Not sure exactly what type of ress you're looking for or what your budget is, but when I tried on dresses at DB, there were several that had optional modesty panels, and they looked fine because they were designed to be part of the dress.  I bet there are other designers that offer this as well - I would just mention it to the salespeople when you're trying on dresses and they can probably point you in the right direction.

Thank you. I was thinking about asking them to show me the ones with the panels. And then if I find one without I will see if there is a way a taylor could take some of the fabric they will take off of the bottom (I'm pretty short) in order to make this modesty panel. I'm sure there are other dresses out there I could look for but the ones I've seen are a fortune online and I don't want to spend all that money or look like a nun.....

Michelle Duggar wore one on an episode of Say Yes to the Dress. Despite being super annoyed that they had the nerve to bring 20 kids into Kleinfelds where people were trying to shop for their $2000+ dresses, I thought the modesty panel actually looked really nice with the sweetheart dress that she chose.

I think if you buy any dress and take it to a good alterations person they would be able to do this with no problem.
